so fake.... aside from just generally appearing to be a
sham, just the legal liabilities alone wouldve prevented
anyone or any television network from actually attempting to
do that.

how does it appear to be a sham?

i'm sceptical myself, but it still makes good viewing!

ok, i just realized its gotta be fake, because if he was in
such a trance that they could grab him and pull him across
the street and shit, how does an airhorn from across the
room wake him up?

offline mylittlesister from ...wherever (United Kingdom) on 2005-06-22 18:25 [#01641429]

what's a better way to wake someone up... shake them, or say
something in their ear?

i just dont understand how if hes in a trance such as he can
be picked up, put on a stretcher and moved through a busy
city street and not be woken up, that an airhorn would do
it.

maybe if he put it right next to his ear or something, but
the dude was across in the next room over.

you know how loud airhorns are though, they're pretty
piercing.

hypnosis does work, but this is way too fake, it simply isnt
possible to put anyone in any kind deep hypnosis via an
arcade game inside a noisy bar. secondly even if it was
possible it certainly wouldnt happen on the first try with
your first victim, hypnosis only works with carefully
selected people. if that dude was expected to basically fall
into a zombie like state why werent there any helpers near
him to prevent him from falling over and splitting his head.
when he was moved into the game room why wasnt there any
kind of security to prevent him from actually physically
attacking any of the actors. i dont know the law in britain,
but no entity or person would attempt this out in the
"wild," because it would simply be waaayyyy too legally
risky.

also, when hes shooting the "zombies" there are bullet holes
and such, which at first led me to think it was fake. then i
thought, 'oh, it could be a bebe gun or something.' but then
the guy walked up to him and he shot him and..... nothing.

woot.

there are so many unknowns that we can neither say it's
genuine or a hoax.

hypnosis is unlike falling asleep, a person is unlikely to
completely lose their balance while hypnotised. there was
security in the 'real life' computer game, simply behind
locked doors - also, the fact that he had a gun meant he
would choose firepower over fists.

I dont believe it 100%, but i would like to know more.

the "zombies" were probably wearing patches that were
triggered to explode when 'hit' by the fake weapon, probably
some form of light gun - classic film industry effects.

actually, ive seen people hypnotized and they do fall down
plenty of the time. well, the people who i saw were sitting
up in chairs fell over. it was pretty fucking funny.

lol.

well now that you've decided it's definately a fake,
i guess you can move on and think about something else.

i'm trying to have a go at society's short attention span
without insulting anyone - not sure it's working too well
though.

not to punch holes in your life saver or anything
but if you're a heavy sleeper the weirdest shit will snap
you out of it, there was an earthquake that i slept
through, only to be awoken a half hour later by my mother
tip toeing by my door...

i hate airhorns more than anything, whenever i hear an
airhorn i have the overwhelming desire to tear at the
arteries in the airhorn-blower's neck...or see them die,
generally

Derren Brown is supposedly very genuine. He does actually
use proper mind fuckery. He doesn't claim it's magic.

I would think that both the flashes and the horn would be
programmed responses.

I mean, you flash a light a few times and it hypnotizes
them? Um.

My guess is that the guy volenteered, but wasnt told when or
where or what would happen.

or its fake

I began feeling sorry for the game player.

it was funny, but I don't think there's a chance in hell
it's legit.

"also, the fact that he had a gun meant he

Unless he was that African guy from the Tiger thread. Can
you imagine the legal situation had he dropped the gun and
started ripping people's tongues out?
