The Best/Worst of Analord

he got paid for 11 EPs.. usually when an artist comes out
with mediocre material it's just one sad little LP.. but he
knows his lunatic fans' weakness.. good for him.

there is legitimately good afx every now and then throughout
the series

I'm not too familiar with the 5th, 8th, 9th, 11th Analords
yet.. but I'd say 2 and 4 are probably the best of the first
half, and that 3 is probably the worst in the entire
series..

even though they're all done with throwback equipment, you
can tell which tracks were done during the druqks era and
which ones were richard james album tracks.. I'd speculate
on specific tracks/years.. but I'll hold off for now

here's the Analord LP I'd sign off on at this moment:

Steppingfilter 101
the untitled 4th track
Phonatacid
Laricheard
Bwoon Dub
Boxing Day
Crying In Your Face
Home Made Polysynth
Halibut Acid
Breath March
I'm Self Employed
Analoggins with Captain Voafose (is that Squarepusher?)
Lisbon Acid
PWSteal.Ldpinch.D
Fenix Funk5
XMD5A
W32.Mydoom.AU@mm (alternate mix of Fenix5, most likely)

right?

also.. Analord 10 is (pound-for-pound) the second best
richard james release .. the best being Windowlicker. ..
that is of course, just MY opinion (settle)

Analoggins with Captain Voafose (is that Squarepusher?)

No, that's Jeremy Simmonds of Vibert Simmonds fame.

I've no idea, I think the series makes perfect, patchy
sense. After this though, I won't buy any more of his
records, nor indeed anyone elses.

now that richard d james has perfected music, it makes any
subsequent releases obsolete before they can even be
concieved. so i will say that analord is the last music
that will ever appear anywhere. music is officially over.

2 and 6 are my favorites. Kind of opposites too, so I can't
decide which one I like best.

actually.. it's really just those midi evil rave tracks
that are really awful on 3.. klop job is iite.

9 sucks though.. except for the last track on it.. I think.
and 11 doesn't deserve to follow 10

does anyone have copies of these that jump/skip? it might
just be my shitty needle, but it made it really annyoing to
listen to some of the songs fucking up here and there

It's all freaking amazing, seriously. I think a fiver an EP
is good value; crappy house and D&B 12"s go for about 5.99
now.

I must be hearing different music to everyone here! I find
all of them bar no.10 immensely dull and simplistic, and not
in a good way. I know simplicity can rule, but only if
there's funk to make up for it.

Analord 2 is still the best IMO.

Boon Dub, Laricheard, and Pissed up in SE1, in that order
are 3 of the best tracks in the series. Analord 10 is good
too and the tracks are some of the best technichally, but
there's something gutless about them that stops them from
being as good as those on Analord 2.

Sadly lots of the other tracks in the series are just 'above
average' to my ears.

"just above average" seems to be a good description. I've
heard far more exciting music from guys on this board and
other boards. There are moments of brilliance in the
Analords, but I find those to be few and far between.

think they're shit and always skip them.

analords are as (perfectly) simple as saw8592, saw II or i
care because you do... maybe there are not innovating
structures (althought i can see some frequency interesting
work, following ultravisitor noise investigation), but they
sound fresh, new, and pretty good to me.

i can say i love analord, and my track preferences are the
same as the majority of you. yes, in my op, 3 is also the
weakest, followed by 9. 10 being the best, 5 my favourite.

every ep has a couple of great tracks+some abstract/bizarre
experiments that only the man himself knows why they were
done. but that happens in all his eps...

so, i wonder what else can i ask for? 11 amazing eps in a
row its really nice!
