i was almost murdered

as i was riding around, taking some pictures today, i ended
up in what i guess would be "the bad part of town".. just as
i was shooting some pictures of a sparrow, this "gang" of
shirtless white guys emerged from the house on the corner
and started to surround me..

they asked me what i was taking pictures of, but apparently
"birds" wasn't the right answer.. they seemed to think i was
trying to take pictures of whatever illegal activities they
were engaging in today, and the plan was to "smash my
fucking camera"... whoops.

i took off as fast as i could, but one of them jumped in his
bmw and chased me down. i ended up weaving around the
parking lot of some place trying to avoid getting run over
by this guy.. after a few narrow misses, lots of engine
revving and squealing tires, i eventually i made my escape
though an adjacent field of powerline pylons..

here's the results.

(unfortunately, i didn't actually manage to get a picture of
the perps.. i was kinda busy pedaling for my life)

perfect summation..

especially the photos - i'm barely ever impressed with
photos i see on the web, but these (especially the first
ugly industrial ones) are really amazing.

keep up the good work risking your life for our
entertainment!

very scary! I'm glad you're ok.

one of my friend's close buddies in college was murdered in
charlote nc a month ago. very wierd. just jumped for what
seemed like a robbery. he fought a few of them, then when
more came he ran and was shot in the back.

he made it back to his appartment but died on the floor.
sucky.

something similar happened to me, my friend was screaming at
this truck full of guys (why i dont know!) so one of them
punched my friend in the teeth (he's got two false front
teeth now) and then they got back in their truck and tried
to run the rest of us over, i leaped into some bushes.
jumped right over a wide ditch to do so, heres to
adreneline!

scary stuff..

Sounds like Canada's a pretty dangerous place :/ Loads of
violence.

From those photos it also looks like it's full of
Soviet-style apartment blocks.

In fact, all in all, it sounds a lot like Lithuania :)

Violence is everywhere :( But I would say Canada is safer
than most countries, all depends what part of town you're
in.

michael moore lied to us!
i guess there's 'tough' youth everywhere
i wanted to point out going to the police is an option
because doing potentially killing stuff isnt cool. probably
you can just make a statement and dont have to indentify
them if you dont want to, so they'll have evidence on them
the next time they do something bad

offline Exaph from United Kingdom on 2005-05-27 04:42 [#01613660]

no way.. thats bad. a lesson i suppose to be careful taking
snaps. photography can get you into all sorts of bother.
thanks for the story, nice work too.

you should consider a devart account (if u aint already) to
share your best works and get critique from other
photographers, its quite helpful and there are tons of
inspiring shots on there to, whatever your into..
e.g. the - top rated architecture shots you can sort by whatever.

as long as you're white, you can reach for your wallet in
comfort and safety.

the cops in my town looooooove giving speeding tickets.
it's a big business. my friend got three last year - one
while he was going one mile over the limit downhill and the
cop was like, "yeah, i know you weren't really speeding...
you can take it to court."
