I don't get it, You have to get up to change disks, tapes etc. So why are they there?
And why do I always spend more time looking for the remote than it would take me to go and press buttons on the machine itself.

that's because you're not practical..you hit eject and then use an artificial hand to change the disc/tapes. also always put remote on top of the table, that should save you some time.

That feature is good for notifying your girlfriend when it is time to get her ass off the couch and change discs for you.

What a bloody good idea can you get stuff out of the fridge with it?
*idea (insert light bulb going on here)*
how about an open door remote for the fridge, freezer, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, trash can, kitchen cupbord doors or any door. This will make me rich....

yeah, i'm not saying it really matters. i certainly don't care. i was just trying to make some sense out of this crazy, mixed-up world of eject buttons and remote controls!

yep. you know like how you retract a curtain on a curtain rod by pulling two little strings.
i have my bamboo remote rigged up with one of those so that i can draw my beercan back to me.
p.s. i'm totally lying.

As well as as my door opener remote, I think I will attach all my possesions to pieces of string with labels. Then I press the remote and pull the string (or combination of strings) and hey presto beer and a glass at my chair without ever having to get up.

you'll need to install a toilet in the couch too.
i've found that to be one of my greatest home improvements.

Remotes should have little alarm things on them. If you loose one, you press a button on the main machine so the remote makes a racket, thus enabling you to find it. I'm sick to death of loosing remotes! And, sometimes, there are features on the remote that you can't get on the actual machine.

sometimes, when a dvd is playing and i want it to stop, pressing stop simply won't get the job done. neither does the stand-by button, because it always starts up that stupid 'screensaver' after some time. pressing eject prevents this.

Well, you would be suprised at what companies might do just to give their product something above the competition. Now its standard, but at first, it was probly just one company to give their remote one extra button.
Remots used to only have 3 or 4, so that would have been a big thing.
