This thread is dedicated to the best type of game that is
never made anymore, the Graphic Adventure.

Monkey Island 2 was the one for me. Amiga 600. 12 disks.
painstakingly slow. funny as fuck. will never forget.

If you don't have it already: ScummVM

You can get Beneath a Steel Sky for free from there, it
plays all the other LucasArts games as well but you have to
commit CRIME to get them.

hehe.

broken swords 1& 2 are the only point & clicks i've actually
enjoyed through to completion outside of LucasArts games.
lucas arts were true masters in the field back in the day.

Broken Sword was as well written as a novel. A rare thing in
the gaming world!

humourous but not M I style funny, and decent puzzles. also
the interface was good considering it wasnt SCUMM

this day.

I'm old enough to remember text based adventure games.

:>N
You go North, you are in a dark forest
S,E,W
:>W
You go West, a troll blocks your path
Challenge Him (Y,N)
:>Y
The Troll is strong, he injurs you (-5 Stamina) But you win.
You find 4 Gold pieces and a magic key.
(N,S,E)
:>

Does anyone know where I could find this type of game
online, I'm feeling all nostalgic now!

I wrote my own on a BBC B in basic. It was at my school and
all the female teachers had become sex crazed zombies and
you had to shag them then kill them.

Unfortunately, I found Broken Sword 3 to be a pile of shit
compared to the first two games. Not because I am a purist
(although I do tend to prefer the old cartoony graphics) but
simply because (on PS2 at least) it was a glitchy, ugly,
hard-to-control uninspired adventure. The puzzles were also
piss poor, and the script came nowhere near the level of the
first one.
