As far as I can tell, OGG Vorbis sounds just as good as a
192kbps mp3 and is almost half the size! Discuss...

well we had a disscusion on another forum and the conclusion
was that, mp3 is more popular because of its wide range
compatibility but ogg is better but not supported as much
as mp3

The Next Generation has come, then it was Deep Space Nine,
then it was Voyeger and then it was Enterprise

Thats what I'm thinking. My stupid-pod doesn't play .ogg,
but it plays mp3, wav and wma. *flings poo*

does itunes support ogg? and i'm talking on a mac, not a
damned pc. damnit!

*not intended to be offensive to pc users, as i use one on
occasion as well.

i'm starting to lack space on my disk, so i might convert
some of my mp3s to ogg to gain space if it's so... i'll have
to get a plug-in or something to play oggs with iTunes
though, or switch to Audion.

no, but there must be ways to do it.

i don't know why Ogg hasn't replaced mp3 yet since everyone
says it's better... if it's just because people are used to
using mp3s it's a bit stupid, a bit of change can't hurt if
it's for the better...

Should I mention the 2004 election?

MP3 is a thing every casual Joe Schmoe knows about and
spends money on, but only us nerd types know about OGG (I'd
assume). It's a bit too late to make OGG the standard,
though obviously it's better. Too hard to just switch over
to it suddenly.

Ogg is 2 cool and it rulz but I just wish they came up with
a better codename for it. Ogg sounds like a jolly caveman.

if you are spreading your own music, use mp3, or else you'll
be throwing off 50% of the people.. ogg annoys me.

if you're just going to listen to your (legally) encoded
albums and songs and stuff, you should.. erh.. what am I
saying?! Keep it on its original format. And ogg sucks
anyway.

recent ogg encoders do a really neat job, actually. i'd use
it if more devices supported it; for now, it's mp3 otherwise
i need to shell out to replace a bunch of gear.

ogg is pointless, you want lossless go flac, you want
something portable go mp3

to hell with lossless shite like flac. 192kbit mp3 is the
way to go.

but yes, ogg does offer similar audio quality at a lower
bitrate.
