I am looking for some high class audiophile/olschool
turntable. Today I found this one. I brought Analord 1 with
me and man! It sounded like pure orgasm. It was wonderful.
Any1 expirienced wit B&O turntables? I would buy this one
for about 300euros, is it a good deal?

there were two turntable topics this weekend, by ecnadniarb,
drunken mastah posted other stylish, affordable turntables
in it
i dont know wether a certain expensive record player would
sound much better than another one, but if it sounds good
you might wanna get it

Band & Olufsen always looks gorgeous but I have no idea as
to the quality.

B&O is for rich people to brag and to show off about.

yeah. That is a linear turntable as well. I have a sony
linear turntable... cool idea, but it has some problems
tracking at times. Mainly you want to invest in a nice
cartridge/needle, as the turntable doesn't really do much
else but turn the record. As long as it has a nice strong
motor to keep pitch, and the motor is nice and quiet
(picking up motor noise sucks). Direct drive is good if you
are djaying, but belt driven creates a better sound and
isolates the motor from the platter. You will notice alot of
the higher end audiophile tables isolate the motor from the
platter completely, as well as the power supply.

mm add that to a nice single ended triode tube amplifer w/
some efficient speakers or electrostats... analog heaven

B&O, before that "design is everything" period (which just
ended in a way) made QUALITY. ANY piece of hifi from them
would last twenty years without deterioration in sound!

as for the stuff in the other thread that Big mentioned, it
was rega and Clearaudio.. Clearaudio is fucking top of the
line, but equally expensive...

what amplifier do you use for your turntable (special
"phono" one, or do you use "aux" ?)?

When hooking up a turntable you need to plug it into the
phono input, as the output needs special amplification to
match "line" level.

you need phono, 'cause you need that grounding thing to
remove the static, or else you'll get a hum on your
playback...

yeah, and most new recievers also have that bass-adding
filter, since turntables are kind of bass-deficient...

Actually, you need phono becuase you need to pre-amplify the
signal. You could essentially hook into another input, but
it will be very very quiet. If you don't have a phono input,
you can buy a pre-amp for about $20-50 online.
