i'm bored of my record collection tonight. give me
something to download tunemakers.

i like it coherent, melodic and lush. none of that
noisecore bollocks };-D

dann...nice sounds at the top of it. not sure about the
dirty stuff, and a little over enthusiastic with the reverb
imho. thought about trying to break away from the main riff
at all? introduce a little more structure. like break into
a middle 8 and work on a little variation in the
counterpoint, before dropping back to the original theme?

shit qtr...that's to minimal i had to grab my headphones. a
little cold for my taste, but very, very nicely put
together. kind of like a more electronic version of The
Books (by vitue of the cutup vocals). actually, it's nothing
like that, but that was what sprang to mind.

you could do it for him.
sorry i'm sure you mean well. though all you are doing is
telling him to basically go with "the usual structure" no?
not much of an upgrade. mind you i haven't heard the track
so i'm talking about nothing really, sorry for taking your

i like aphex, but he's done a lot more shit that people
normally credit him for. sometimes wonder how real he's
being. you can normally tell the honest tracks over the
ones he does for a laugh or being lazy. those are the ones
that stand the test of time. actully, i think that's true
of all artists. i'm sure you listen to more than just the
bigger warp stuff, but, if you don't, try exploring the
independents a little deeper. that's where it's all kicking
off in electronica right now, imho.

haha...techno children's music huh...you ever hear of
Feedle? similar vibe.

well mate, the production is rough as badgers, but i can
imagine that's almost intentional. sometimes a little heavy
handed...on the organ track especially. some variation in
the tone would be wise on that one. "my drunken
thoughts..." is not really my vibe...in terms of the whole
random hits and abstract backing thing. the panned bline
was pretty cool.

my problem with stuff like this is coherency. there's a
massive difference between an abstract piece of music and
randomness. a pollock painting or a bit of mu-madness holds
together as a composition. you can step back objectively,
and let your brain wander into the artist's vision, forming
your own interpretation as you do. but in order to do that,
there has to be guidelines and structure still. this is
just my take on it, but this track of yours doesn't seem to
have that. and therefore, for all the decent sound design,
and interesting moments, it's impossible for the listener to
see it as anything other than a mishmash.

of course, those nutters that dig merzbow and suchlike will
probably get more out of it, but for me...it's cold and
unmemorable. compare and contrast with stuff like later
autechre - find the method in the madness. pay careful
attention to where you're putting every hit, noise, and
texture. compose the track, don't just splatter the notes
on the sequencer. your guiding hand will allow the listener
to get where you're coming from.

all. i'm suggesting he put some structure into it. see my

hmm..ambient huh faaip...cool. easily mis-done this genre.
this sounds nice though. reminds me a little of biosphere.
tenebrous nadir is the one i'm listening to. some nice stuff
going on in the sub-mix as well. probably not the kind of
thing i'd stick on much, but in the right mood, this'd sit
nicely. very cinematic too. would soundtrack well.

Hello Mr. dtnl

Here is my track entitled "This isn't my life" I think I
need to change the drums a bit but let me know what you
think

This isn't my life

^^ Its nice. The drums sound a bit cheesy but it could work.
Maybe you should cut the drum samples off before they
finish, I don't know what the musicallistical term for that
is but I hope I'm making sense. Make the sounds more
electronic and sharper, then the reverb sounds better I
think... This track sounds sort of like a sequenced version
of something by GYBE.

weatheredstoner - the result of my surroundings.

my favourite track so far. lovely snare sound you got
there. and lots going on underneath it rhytmically.
reminds me a little of xela with bolder melodies. some of
the sounds could be a little more rounded off (i know that's
a hopelessly abstract concept - but it's all i can think
right now). really, really like the beats, especially after
the breakdown. but some of the pads are a little heavy
handed imho. the melodic basis for it should be stronger.
think lines rather than generic ambience. all imho of
course, but really good work nonetheless. got anything
else?

melack - interesting. quite different from the humdrum
eyedeeEm. not really that into percussive led pieces on the
whole, but this is quite cool. was hoping it would drop
into a groove, and it kind of does. the hats sound a little
high in the mix to me, but that may be my system. the
bleeps and stuff toward the end are lush. nice one.

rud - these are cool. more up my street in terms of
melodicism. if you can hum it, all good. vocals are
interesting. make em more up front. seems a little scrappy
in places - by that i mean that when it gets busy, there
seem to be a lot of parts fighting for space in the mix and
it gets mish mashed. especially with the bline. the drums
in september especially cover all the nice little bell
melodies and synth squiggles going on. nice track though.
