so, in my dream last night, i discovered that the first portion of vibes 08 was the following songs*: 1. kylesa/100 degree heat index 2. dillinger esacape plan/jim fear 3. brutal truth/walking corpse 4. overcast/untitled 5. giginger/gar bar (remix) - the intro of this was sloppily cut off! and then the rest of the playlist was correct. and i was very confused about this, because i had already uploaded it and all these people had already downloaded it, and nobody said anything about four heavy metal songs starting it out. so i called my good pal in sweden, phobiazero, on the phone. i came to realize, despite his slight elusiveness, that he had inserted the songs because he felt the mix wasn't long enough, and he thought it needed better songs (songs my friend's sister told him were good and that's why he liked them) to start it off. i was very upset because, hey, this is supposed to be a cappella electronica - not heavy metal! and i attempted to persuade phobiazero to put the original mp3 back online. but in the end, he left it open-ended and wouldn't promise anything. i was very disappointed, and then i woke up. * these four songs are almost the exact same playist as the start of OCDJ's last set on WFMU. this is significant because i was listening to his set, which starts off with hardcore and grindcore music, some of which i really liked, and then he played a whole bunch of disco and funk, which i really hated and so i turned off the radio. |
