Watched the first series for the forst time last night and
it's just one of the funniest things I've seen in
aaaaaaaaaages !

Bernard Black (alcoholic) runs his own bookshop even though
he doesn't much like people who buy books and hates having
customers. When Bernard's accountant goes on the run Bernard
employs stress victim, Manny (Bill Bailey) to help in his
shop.

Manny: Is space hot?

Bernard: Of course it is, where do you think we get
pineapples from?

I watched the first episode when it was first on and didn't
like it. Then there was fuck all on the TV one night and I
chose this as the least shit and it was a good choice as it
was quite funny.

This shares a lot of actors with Spaced I've noticed.

its such a great little show. I think fran is one of the
sexiest women out there too - the best female comedy
character since Elaine from "Seinfeld".

Its nicely insane and slapsticky. see the one where they
try and fo on holidays? Priceless!

I got a friend just like Dylan Moran too. He actually does
represent a lot of irish people i reckon!

fran.. sexy? I must admit I never thought of her like that
when I was watching the show.. wellwell.. it's all a matter
of taste.

haha yeah my friend had it on dvd and lent it to me, really
quite funny.

manny: "Of course you can't taste anything. You smoke eighty
bajillion cigarettes a day. What's that you're eating?"

bernard: "It's some sort of delicious biscuit"

manny: "It's a coaster!"

it's still fucking awesome!

haha, that book of calm thing, I always thought it was some
weird eastern philosophy thing called Kahm because of the
way they all pronounced calm.. do you have the little book
of kahm?

it is superb. when the borders-like store moves in next door
and manny goes and works there is one of my favourite
episodes. The relationships of the three central characters
work really well and bill bailey is just a genius. check out
his live DVDs

hehe, how can one not love such an awesome show.
the character of bernard is so genius as well.
got the 3 disc box set with all episodes, awesome to just
wrap one self in blanket and watch it all in 3-4 days : )

speaking of having crazy dvd marathons, atm im having rest
from mash bcause my bro hasnt got season 7 onwards yet, so
i've been watching shitloads of seinfeld again. just watched
episode where george joins latvian orthodox for a chick.
(sorry to talk about seinfeld in black books topic)

Great show - shame only three series, although the extras on
#3 suggest they knew when making it that there would be no
more coming. Some cracking episodes!
