Hi folks, bit of a different slant on music spam in this
thread...

I've got well over 400 unfinished tracks and frankly it's
getting a bit silly. I'd like to finish some more off, but
find it hard to focus on each one as I constantly flit
between about 150 of them (as well as starting new tracks).
I work well under pressure, so I've made a deadline for
myself, properly finish at least one track in the next
month.

Here's where you come in, I've taken a fairly wide cross
section of my current work in progress (lots of different
styles of track). I've put short (unmastered) samples of 10
of these tracks together into one file (for your conveniance
and for webspace reasons), some tracks are currently little
more than what you'll hear here, others are almost
completed, and the clip is just an extract.

I'd like people to listen, choose their favourite one and
post it here. I promise to finish the one that gets the most
votes, by 22nd of June 2004.

Comments are welcome regarding all the tracks and even if
you just think that track x is terrible and I should abandon
it, that'd be a help too.

Files (both the same tracks, just different audio
quality/filesize) for "Work in Progress Preview" can be
found:
14.6MB VBR - High Quality
and
4.83MB VBR - Low Quality (you can "right click, save as" on this
link)

Many thanks in advance,

Ceri.

I'm in a similar predicament and have thought about making a
similar post. For this synchronicity, I will do you the
honor of listening to your bits.

Also, your link crashed my IE, but whatever.

Ah cool, which bit? I'm actually in Barry, but I put Cardiff
as more people know where that is.

One of my tracks is called "Siberia (Altai Mix)".

*******************ATTENTION************

As Pomme has pointed out, link 1 crashes IE (just happened
to me too). So, please use the 4.38 MB low quality one and
just send the link to the other one to people you dislike.
:)

With any luck, if this thread fills up a bit, I'll be able
to call on the service of our meditarranean statisticians,
Nacmat and Wooferattack in collating the results. :)

Cheers for the votes Pomme. Let me know when/if you do your

will be glad to help, I didn't realise you were making so
many tracks since you have very few online. Feel free to
send me some mp3s if you want a wider range listened to.

Track 1

Track 3

Track 5

**Track 6 - This is a maybe, I would have to hear more to
decide.

The above are the samples that I would most like to hear
finished versions, they seemed to be the most interesting.
I'm not saying that the others were not good but they didn't
make the same impact on me.

Just an idea, you could make new sampler every 2-3 months
and form an album from the winning tracks :)

Cheers for the listens folks.

Altai: "blood in your bloody bleeding eye" is mental mashup
ragga. I've never heard anything quite like the hard panning
taken to such extremes. It's like you're DJing, with only
one 'phone on and you can hear the master playing into your
other ear. I like the way the lynn break appears cheekily on
the left side for a tiny bit on the left. A lot of the stuff
is remixes, but I'm assuming "Hop your fucking music EP" is
all your own stuff? Digging the pounding bass.

Jazembo: Yep, I've got just over 100 finished tracks, about
60 of which have been online at some stage or another. Since
MP3.com was taken down I've resorted to just putting up my
more recent/better ones. Now I've got a deadmurder site I
might put some of the older stuff back up. Re the every
three months thing, that's a good idea, so long as people
take part it could work really well :)

track 1 - i would go with lots of synth layers for
this. seems like the kind of track that you could wrap
yourself in, if you know what i mean? maybe a nice tinny
highrange melody, and a breakbeat on top of that core
rhythm.

track 2 - like this one quite a bit. bring in some
really heavy thick bass synths or perhaps a section of some
synthesizer fuckery a la squarepusher's anstromm-feck. maybe
chop up that beat and bit for a bit of breakcore-style
mashup variation for the drums.

track 3 - sounds nice. would probably make a good
ambient track, focus on melodies and keep the drums minimal,
it may also make a good variation alongside/indside track
1.

track 4 - goddamn is funky! maybe chop up that
breakbeat a bit for some hectic yet downtempo variants. some
thick long sustained acidic waves could make this
interesting. maybe also put a really pumping beat on top of
it all.

track 5 - this is perhaps my favorite. have a really
rough or rugged beat come in to contrast the inviting
textures - something real nasty. keep the melodies warm,
maybe some string synths or some female vocals.

track 6 - this would make a nice breakbeat track. a
real bouncy beat. thick tasty sinewave bass, maybe some bass
sweeps.

track 7 - sounds like it could alongside track 4.
maybe. a 4/4 beat might be good...

track 8 - oh god so funky. bring in an
improvisational guitar later. perhaps some bongos or shakes
over the percussion. some violins might do this track
wonders as well.

track 9 - something real steady, rhythm wise, but
meticulous, with lots of percussive subtleties. some
highrange wobbling melodies would be cool too.

track 10 - bring in more traditional instrumentation,
maybe some brass, trumpets, or piano. some voice samples,
sound effects would be good too.

hope i was helpful. :)

3. I like the stuttery end to maybe you could incorporate
however that is done into

7. Nice ninja tunes style stuff.

8. I like the pacman style synth :)

9. Drukqsy drill and bass. nice.

10.. Great use of the operatic sample.

Overall, I'd like to see either 7or 10 finished.

Low Res = not bad... it's vbr and to be honest it doesn't
sound drastically different to the high res ones. Bear in
mind they're all unmastered (at this stage) anyway, so the
comments I was looking for were refering to which track had
the best "ideas"/things to develop.

What I'm trying to say is, audio quality isn't very
important for this- DL and comment, dammit! ;D

No, none of them are the same. These are entirely new works
