I know I am. Its chronic really. I spent the last week just surfing when i should really have been learning a new system i'm supposed to be working on. The thing is, i've always done this (4 years programming with some gaps in between - doning nothin) and gotaway with it.
My worklife is series of getting-away-with-it episodes. I always manage to dodge between the hard stuff to find the path of least resistance. It feels almost pathological sometimes - like i want to be cought doing fuck-all... but i never do.... the bear minimum gets done and i go home.
I just never found the need to be satisfied with a hard days work. For me thats a psychological fullfillment easily replaced by day-dreaming, idleness and the satisfaction of achieving jack shit.
I play hard though.
Anyone else? - if you're bothered to write it.

I'm soooo lazy that in my last programming job i knew that the work i had to do would involve going to an industrial estate in Strasborg to install a system and i'd have to be there all day in front of people actually doing stuff, so i quit!.... it was great money, would have got me loads of hardware, a new apt. etc but i thougt - "it isn't actually fucking worth it" and said good luck and went on the dole for a while.
This is not pot-related by the way! - its sheer not-arsedness

Høres jo ganske greit ut i ditt tilfelle.

I am the same, and now i can only work from home. I got offered a great job, very good money being the "web guy" at some office in an industrial estate. I lasted a week, sitting 8 hours under the fiercest air conditioning unit listenting to some uber geek that stank of piss playing his hilarious Cantonese pop music mp3s.. the deepest circle of hell is an open plan office in Northolt.

Go for it, once I started doing my own thing it was a lot easier. I couldn't go back to working for someone else, i can't stand the politics, the rude and ignorant "managers", the way making a cup of tea is treated with some sacred reverence and if you just make one for yourself without telling anyone then you are guilty of the lowest transgression, the commuting, the endless meetings, the "hey guys, you're going to working late tonight", the argument that follows the next day when I have to explain why i left at the usual time, sitting around doing nothing because there is nothing to do, explaining that no, the internet isn't slow today, talking to marketing people without being able to punch them, uncomfortable chairs, people who put post it notes all over their monitor so they look really busy, smokers getting an extra six months of a year in breaks, cheap toilet paper.

Do you resort to repeating the instruction, without even bothering to rephrase it for clarity/politeness sake?
Like saying, "Move the mouse to the bottom left corner, click start..." again and again, in response to whatever they say until they've done it?
Fortunately, I only had to deal with reasonably competent people (they were usually IT admin themselves), but occassionally if it was early/late I'd need to talk a receptionist/secretary through connecting a modem, etc.
