I own the Cremaster Cycle

Just arrived last night.

Cremaster 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 on bootleg DVD. Got them at a fair
price and the quality is better than I expected, considering
they are probably 3rd or 4th generation VHS dubs from the
original laser discs.

I plan on copying the series onto a few blank VHS tapes and
mailing them unlabeled to a fiend that doesn't know anything
about them. That should be fun.

i saw part 3 the other night.

nuts.

i couldnt really describe it to anyoe, and it doesnt seem to
really have a logical meaning or narative, but i liked it
for what it was.

very interesting visual themes.

WHOAAAAAAA. I will totally pay for a copy of that, hit me up
mr pomme sir please. Seriously, i've been looking EVERYWHERE
for bootlegs with no luck, i'd be eternally grateful if we
could find some sort of cash + prezzies = my copy of
cremaster deal.

I don't know if these are written to in the European
format..

I can rip and burn them to a format that should be
universal.

Give me your address

you should probably just watch the trailer and read the
synopsis for each section.. i don't think i could tell you a
"bit" about because it's so vast in it's themes. (and its 9
hours long)

Palm Pictures bought the rights to the entire cycle last
year. So far they've only released a segment of part 3 on
DVD. It sounds like they will release the entire cycle
sometime next year maybe.. (it's still touring quite
actively in theaters)

3 months ago I had a lecture about this cycle for my
students, but the only thing I own is DVD of "The Order" -
which is an excerpt of the third part (Gugenheim race :)).
It would be fantastic if I could buy it from you, though. I
saw all parts in cinema and it was very bizzare expirience.
In the 6th hour I felt like half-dreaming on LSD dude :D It
was very heavy expirience :)

So tell me - how/if can I get it from you? :)

I do not "like" David Lynch, man :) I have been taking in
his art since I was 12. He cannot be compared to Barney,
because Barney's Cremaster is a massive sculpture, not a
film (that is what he said about the cycle).

I'd never heard of this before, and reading up on it on the
website it looks the most homosexual thing since Derek
Jarman's "Sebastian", however, well worth a look I imagine.

(This is what I do not like about internet forums! You
cannot see people's gestures, smiles, cannot hear tone of
voice. I was not teaching anyone here. I am happy I can
discuss some things with cool people. Ok? I like you :)

The excerpt is very good. It's nice that you can watch all 5
levels of the Guggenheim climb independently by changing
camera angle on your remote, it gave me more of a feel for
the piece somehow. And matthew barney's commentary is quite
interesting, lots of layers of Obscure Arty Thoughtâ„¢ if
you like that sort of thing. Personally i really like the
"look" of cremaster, it's a nice balance between minimal
white cube-ishness and visceral slop.

Pomme never sent me the DVDs though. The evil mastermind.

horrible scene in one of them featuring a guy, mouth open,
drill or some other appliance of evil inserted into his

I saw that episode of Art Safari too, it was terrible. The
entire Cremaster Cycle will never be officially released on
DVD now it seems so I'm going to buy these bootlegs from
Brutallo soon. I was just wondering if those are where
you got yours because I saw yours had covers in the DVD
Collection thread.

If you hadn't seen too there's a Cremaster fansite at
cremasterfanatic.com and they say Bjork will be providing music
for Barney's next film Drawing Restraint 9.
