$200 is a very reasonable price for j9i.

why pay $100,000 for an old jaguar '69 edition when you can
buy a brand new skoda for $10,000 ?

because they have different values for different people.

because you would get a nice car? and what do you get buying
a record? mp3's sound just the same to me :)

you don't get this record/collectors/music/feeling yet, do
you?

after all these years: we're all members of a site dedicated
to electronic music/scene and people are still confused on
why other members are buying music they love on vinyl? isn't
that at least a little bit pathetic? <---- (not a question
really)

does this phenomena exists on sites where people
exchange/buy/collect stamps as well? would people prefer a
jpg of the actual stamp - instead of the real thing? I don't
think so...

that wasn't meant to be a personal attack on you, tolstoyed,
but a general statement on the whole issue.

hmm.. if mp3s sound the same to you, you must be dead.. or
you must be listening to all your music in headphones...

i can't comment on stamps cuz i have no idea about that
scene...but when it comes to music, the music itself is art,
and not the medium...what i mean is, i can get as much
enjoyment from listening to mp3 as i get from listening the
particular record. don't get me wrong, i prefer to have my
music on a record, but to pay some silly money for it just
to feel good about having it, is just not my thing...
drunken...i hope im not dead :)

that is your opinion, but don't get surprised to find out
people with a deep and serious interest in collecting music,
especially on xltronic... arguing about it or even
commenting it, is just plain silly.

good headphones can be more articulate than good speakers.
if I really want to hear something that is intricate I use
headphones.

something subconscious too with the packaging affects how I
listen to it *shrug*, that's why I like vinyl so much.
having a 2500+ song playlist takes something out of the
listening experience, as opposed to setting up a record and
spinning it on my turntable

i guess so...but imo collecting records and enjoying music
are two different things (unless you're mappatazee haha
j/k)...but yeah, there seem to be quite a number of
collectors here - there's nothing wrong with it ofcourse if
it makes you happy :)

Just keep trying eBay is all I can say. That's what I had to
do and it was well worth the effort. Just holding the record
in your hand is worth the price. Watching it spin on your
turntable is even better. Seeing the gorgeous picture turn
as the gorgeous music rings out makes record collecting the
fun that it is. I can't remember what I paid for my copy but
it was around the $200 mark and I would've gladly paid
more.
