you people are so stupid. you go through some tradegy and
you give up so easily. how many times does this happen in
israel? you're doing exactly what the terrorist want you to
do.

The Spanish Socialist Workers Party ruled from 1982 to 1996
but ran a foul of corruption scandals and was voted out in
1996, when Aznar took power.

idiiiiiiotttttttttttsssssss

Yes I was pretty surprised and very dissappointed at the
same time. The whole thing rank of defeat. Quite weak and
spineless in my book. I don't know people can be really
pathetic sometimes and quite frankly it doesn't inspire much
respect quite frankly. I would have expected people to come
out fighting and that would be reflected in the vote. I
guess its no surprise the majority of people are weak when
it comes to the crunch. As the old saying goes 'it takes
only good men to do nothing for evil to flourish'.

Cuba is probably the nearest to a real communist country at
the moment. And yes, it's not terribly appealing and it is a
regime...

Drunken Mastah: Indeed, a society based on game theory is
probably the most "fair" and workable socialistic system
that manages to strike a balance between rewarding the
strong and helping the weak, but that is certainly not
communistic. Fascism's supporters often describe it as "true
socialism".

The thing that genuinely scares me most about it is the
myopia of the voters; the message it gives is, "As
deplorable as terrorism is, sometimes we should give in to
it." The long term effects this will have are unthinkable
and will probably be seen as a "green light" by terrorists
in other countries.

ChildrenTalking maybe if you knew what the fuck you were
talking about you would be interesting. There is a world of
difference between communism and socialism...in fact the
current UK government is historically and still describes
itself as a socialist party. Corruption runs in every
government...they just hope it doesn't become public.

"be seen as a "green light" by terrorists
in other countries."

I agree with that, this proves Terrorism CAN have an
influence. The UK is next, no doubt about that. We should
all put up signs in the town centers saying "we didn't bomb
Iraq, Blair did!"

Fuck the people being targeted for what the govermnent does.

There was a strong possiblity he was going to be voted out
anyway. A lot of spanish friends, and I also beleive nacmat
as well, said they thought the previous Prime Minister was
doing a completely shit job anyway and needed to be voted
out. The fact his government LIED about Eta didn't help
them though...plus people didn't want the war in Iraq. If
anything the Spanish people have showed strong principles
and true democratic choice.

yeah, but all these attacks wouldn't happen if the

silly these same people would be elected again after doing
the oposite of what the people want.

ecnadniarb "There is a world of difference between
communism and socialism...in fact the current UK government

party"

if i go through a long elaborate explanation as to how
ignorant your response is it'll be blurred through all the
curse words inserted in my response. so heres a simple
definition to prove how you're wrong (to put it lightly)

socialism: A theory or system of social reform which
contemplates a complete reconstruction of society, with a
more just and equitable distribution of property and labor.
IN POPULAR USAGE, THE TERM IS OFTEN EMPLOYED TO INDICATE ANY
LAWLESS, REVOLUTIONARY SOCIAL SCHEME. See Communism

ChildrenTalking: "where in this fucking world has socialist

party work?"

Sweden, UK and Norway are mentioned in this thread. I would
imagine most socialist countries work completely fine, and
even better than USA.

For instance, compare the US-social security-system with the
UK-system! UK is the winner on social-security all over!
they've got the rest of the world beat!

Short history of Game theory if that interests you, do a google on "John
Nash game theory".

The basic premise of game theory is this: Act in a way that
benefits yourself (foremost), but also (ideally) helps
others and doesn't screw someone else over. The most
attractive part of it is that it eliminates wasted human
endevour (which occurs in any "battle of the
wills"/beauracracy/etc.).

I've yet to see a working model of it applied to politics,
even on paper. Perhaps the simplest real world example is in
advertising. Once a company is well known, the only purpose
of advertising is to steal the competitors clients (rather
than to make themselves known). Say company A and B are the
leaders in their market. If company A spends £1,000,000 on
advertising, they will get some of company B's clients. To
prevent this, B has to spend £1,000,000 to cancel
out
the effect of company A's ad campaign. Neither of
them get more customers, the only people that win are the
advertisers. If A and B sign a contract agreeing not to
advertise this year, both of them save a million pounds.

By "applied to politics" I meant, "as a workable, political
model". Game theory is applied to politics all the time-
voting patterns, agreeing to vote on an issue you don't care
about with an allie in exchange for their vote on a subject
important to you, etc.

I was referring to commonly accepted opinions over what
communism is...if you are going to go into dicitonary
definition of what they mean then there is fuck all wrong
with communism...maybe you need to learn the difference
between communism and dictatorial regimes under the guise of
communism.

a) Depends what poll you are referring to.

b) It is still the majority of the populus who should, if
they were against it, stopped the government doing it.

This country is weak as well and will vote the same
government in next time. I respect the Spanish for the
choice they have made. Unlike you who describes them as
