Well I'm looking forward to the Liberal Democrats coming
into power. With their half baked loony ideas they should
really fuck the country up.

hmm... did i say all that?

i just think it's a dangerously slippery slope to cede
things to groups who use baltant terrorist acts as their
main negotiating tool.

That will never happen. And sadly we don't really have a
viable opposition to the current governement as the
conservatives are as bad, but people like Claire Short and
Robin Cook should have had proper public support to effect
change within the party and oust Blair. It is a well known
fact Columbo didn't want to go to war and he has done a
pretty good job as Chancellor of the Exch. I would have
liked him to have been given the opportunity.

I think people should let the Spanish people decide. They
used their democratic right to vote in this new government.
People who claim they are "weak", and are "giving in to
terrorists", need to realise that such remarks are insulting
and patronising to an intelligent race with a deep history.

There is nothing worse than people mouthing off without
studying the facts.

doesn't englad have like 7000 political parties? (none of
these are able to win an election except for the few large
ones, but there ARE LOTS AND LOTS of parties, right?!)

Anyone can set up a political party...you just have to be
able to pay the small retainer to enter into elections which
you get back if you poll above a certain number of votes.

This is the same Fox News wo had to interrupt a conversation
about the drug scandel in the NHL to go live to Spain to
hear the prime minister give his speech, but not showing it
all so they could get bad to the NHL topic.

Fox News = US Government Propaganda Machine.

Fox News is US...part of the Rupert Murdoch family of
companies and sister station to Sky News whos mission
statement seems to consist of nothing more than to discredit
the BBC.

Aznar backing war in Iraq against the wishes of his country
= undemocratic

Zapatero winning election = democratic

now lets guess, which one will the american right complain
about the most??

I can't blame the spainish people. That's why I don't
beleieve the UN is useful. A war should be between the
parties directly involved. Otherwise you have a recipe for
World War. And getting innocent soldiers killed over a
foriegn dispute is bad. The US government is far from
perfect, but our system does provide opportunities for
growth and I can't help but think that Socialist Europe is
much more interesting and probably profits greatly from the
excesses of the US.

Unless the the enemy is invading at a rapid rate. Like the
Nazis'. Allies are needed at that point. Different
circumstance. But there's a lot of grey area there.

No that just means that...as normal the US only got involved
when they have been affected directly...not because they
want to help or aide friends.

Oddly Pearl Harbour was not the start of World War II, in
the same way that terrorist acts did not begin on the 11th
of September 2001. The US is a selfish nation purely out
for themselves.

not to be nit picky, but we were offering some help to the
brits and whatnot before pearl harbor. we had planes,
ships, and supplies over there (even some men), and we were
blockading the fuck out of japan... hence they were none to
happy with us.

but yeah... we notched things up a bit when we were sucker
punched in the nads with a mallet.

and the us certainly isn't a modle of self sacrifice, but i
challenge you to find a nation of moderate size that is.
it's hard to justify to people's moms why you're sending
their sons and daughters to die for other people's
problems.

and, as far as foreign aid is concerned; i don't have time
to look up statistics, but i'd be willing to bet 'merica is
pretty high on the list of countries offering aid to others.
