Yeah he was annoying, but it's still he fought till the end
and was still working only six weeks ago.

Only 75 as well...he still had so much in front of him.

the double zero...

yeah he was a bit lame but I still liked him cos it felt
like i'd (and i'm sure most people!) had grown up with him

also he had a very sad life with his parents disowning him
and both his sons dying

I never found him particularly funny but it was hard not to
like him in some respects.

He was pretty quickwitted, and he wasn't so unfunny as to
cause embarrassment, and he seemed like quite a nice
fellow.

Obviously, i now expect someone to tell me he was a total
asshole and detail horrible things he did...

He will be sorely missed. His jokes were lame,
lamecore even, but there was an avuncular quality to
him, made explicit in the title of hit show "Bob's Your
Uncle". If your grandfathers were dead, he would be the one
to give you a Werther's Original then sit you down on his
lap and bounce you up and down for a good three minutes.
His televisual legacy will be enjoyed for generations to
come, from the "oh you said the word wife here's a joke
about my wife" opportunistic joke-telling of his numerous
gameshows to the borderline psychosis of "Welcome to the
Monkhouse". And his crusty orange skin was always good for
a laugh.

he could be pretty edgy, though.

There was something about his demeanour that just screamed
the word "sleazy" to me, but I've just looked at an obituary
and he was with his wife for over thirty years.

It was the voice.

You could easily hear him slipping in:

There were these two women right....

......twice in the face

Obviously with something in the middle.
