My oh my, what a night last night was. Where do I start?
Perhaps at the beginning

Got to the venue at about 20:20 and proceeded quickly inside
with my chums. Once inside the venue, Cylob was on the
decks. He cranked out some pretty wicked tunes if I'm
honest, no arsing about like I have heard he has done in
previous threads on here. Top quality stuff. Had a chat with
him and got him to sign my "Previously unavailable on CD"
cover on which he wrote "Yo, I was here...honest, Cylob,
Rephlex" His set went on for quite some time but it was all
good, only a few people dancing though.

Straight after that came Astrobotnia. Quite a variety of
things he played, some of it was Astrobotnia, some of it was
Ovuca (I think) and then some other tunes he threw in. Very
spacey melodies and hard hitting drums that were not
amazingly fast, quite chilled infact. A lot of people
started dancing to it. I proceeded to dance quite rave-like
with my friend Packman. It was a really good set by
Astrobotnia, can't remember much else. Got his signature on
the Astrobotnia Part 1 CD cover, so I was happy =o)

Straight after was DJ Smojphace. This set was a much better
set than the one he played at Warp Halloween Party. He
played such a variety and it just all worked so well
together. Amen breaks firing, speed ranch screaming to
computer distortions by Venetian Snares, Roots Manuva bloody
hell it was great. Then came the noise. I wasn't up the
front of the stage for this part, but I could imagine people
would have been having fits of the weirdest kind to it. He
then just stopped all the noise and then just slapped on
some hip hop which was so fun to dance to. During his set I
went and talked to Bogdan. He was really nice, he drew a
smiley face and a flower on two of my album sleeves from
him, which was pretty cool. I had a nice chat with him about
what stuff he was going to play tonight. I was very tempted
to ask him what his friends called him for short, but I
didn’t want to take the piss as he was a nice enough chap.
There was a

mosh pit for Aphex which has got to be one of the most
violent things I have ever seen. It happened once, and no
one wanted to do it again.

A couple of minutes rest and The Bug was setting up. If I
only I knew how loud it was going to be, I would have worn
ear plugs. He comes on and starts firing off Dancehall
excellence on his own. Really well produced stuff: hard
beats, squelchy bass lines, good MC'ing over the top of it.
And that bring me on to the MC's. He had about 4 of them,
the first one was excellent, very good, then you had another
one which was also very good. Then this woman MC comes on,
and it was so weird to hear the words "Rephlex Records, The
Bug, Aphex Twin, one time" in a Jamaican accent. At this
point Richard got on stage and manned the strobe light which
he managed to get in time with the beats. He had a huge grin
from behind it. The Bug's set was excellent, very loud
however but there we go. Those people on here who said that
British crowds don't move in raves should have seen the
crowd this time. It was like a sea of mashed people dancing
their hearts out, the same for Aphex actually.

Sound murderer came on straight after. His stuff was pretty
mental, very much like the jungle and fucked up Drum and
Bass that Aphex was blasting out. Not much I can say about
this set really, it was just really hard and really fast and
very good. A lot of people were raving very hard to it. It
was fun raving with all the different people, such a wide
variety of people in the crowd: People in blazers and
fisherman's hats (my friend Packman), middle aged guys off
their face, people dressed up in London underground
maintenance gear, lesbians and general mash heads and
ravers. Superb!

Last set of the night was Bogdan. He was not really playing
live per say, but it was pretty wicked what he was playing.
He started off with drum and bass, moved into some jungle
then stopped everything and then played tracks from his
newest album. I wasn't raving at this point, I was just
watching Bogdan and sitting with my friends. He was pretty
cool, whenever one of his tracks came on he had so much
concentration on his face and he was singing the melodies to
his songs. He ended on his track "Slash attack enter key"
which was so very good. He got so much applause after that.
Then the house lights came up, and it was time to go. I got
a free The Bug - Gun Disease CD.

All in all a fantastic night out with my friends and some
excellent music. Photos to come very soon.

London is the IDM capitol, it is a shame they don't usually
venture out of England. I suppose its because they know they
have a quite a huge fan base round here.

True, but there were alot of teens there, and quite a few
people in their 30's.

And there were many girls, but they stayed to the outisde.
Some went into the thick of it, like the two really cool
looking lesbians at the front. They were really nice :)

I'm not too sure, he was dancing really weirdly and kept
looking at Packman(the guy in the blazer and white hat) as
if he was eyeing him up. Me and Jules (guy standing next to
Packman) found that quite funny :)

jeezus what a night, crazy mashed up beats and fucking loud
sound system, felt like an old rave at times then at others
more like an industrial club or something, one of the best
nights ive been to in a while...

I am in Murray's 2nd picture, somewhere!

I was there!!!

I was probably the youngest. I went with a two friends,
wearing some crazy multicoloured t-shirt. I remember your
mate's dancing, he put me off wanting to start coz it was so
skilled lol!

But once Aphex came on I couldn't resist and just got into
the mad groove. I agree; the mosh pit was pretty stupid. But
luckily it didn't last too long.

I had to leave at 12:50 or so because of school the next day
(A-levels are bitches) but it was an amazing night!

Man, I wish I could've gone. If they'd had this on a sodding
Friday night I'd have been set. As it stands I don't have
enough holiday to take a day off to go to these things.
Bugger.

Packman tried to start it again people just didn't want any
of it. I can see why, really.

aphex's set ruled, its like the best set im ever gonna hear
in my life. 4 on the floor acid monsters + 160 bmp mash up
amen + 180 bmp hardcore it was just fucking brilliant and
exceeded all expectations. the man is a genius. i feel sorry
for u people who have never raved to him live, u'd love him
100 more. At the end of his set he raised his fists in the
air and the crowd went mad.

great crowd too, the guy in the London Underground jacket
had me cracking up, i kept thinking he was gonna ask 4 my
ticket or something!

everyone was knackered after aphex, but everyone was wasted
by the time bogdan came on!

oh was that guy in the hat called packman?? who is he /
where he from?

i kept seeing him dancing all night. then i saw he was
wearing a 'bogdan will eat ur children' tshirt, and i smiled
and gave him the thumbs up. i was the asian guy wearing a
white sweatshirt i prob saw u too murray

by the way murray, where did u meet astrobotnia / bogdan, i
wanted to meet some of these guys but cudnt really find em.
+ im a pussy and thought they might tell me to piss off

I saw all of the people mentioned. I think.

Yeah Aphex was amazing...didn't like the noise at the end,
but otherwise REALLY pumping stuff...he knows when to drop,
build up, slow down, speed up etc. perfectly.

Gosh i hope everyone who went realises how lucky they are
for getting to see such a great line up! I am dying for this
to happen in the midwest (USA) which it probably never will
it seems.

Sounded like you had a great time! Looking forward to the
photos!

Thanks for the great review!
