it's a world wide magazine....so they should. just go to a
store that has the widest magazine selection!!

offline grinningcat from london (United Kingdom) on 2003-10-22 13:25 [#00914041]
Points: 1073 Status: Lurker

the thing about the wire has always been: its a very thin
magazine, full of pompous avant-garde shite with maybe only
1 or 2 good articles, for like 3 quid

but for this months issue i forgive them!!

offline Key_Secret from Sverige (Sweden) on 2003-10-22 13:26 [#00914043]

I think I will be able to get this at Press Stop (in e.g.
Linköping)...
I must remember to look for it!

thanks for the tip, grinningcat.

but its meant to be about avant-garde music, its better than
any other music magazine out there imho. I've discovered
loads of music from it that I wouldn't have otherwise.

i'm pissed off I lost the Tom Waits one! For some reason the
only Wire mags I keep are the ones with artists I like on
the cover, like boredoms, ae, lou reed etc.

offline grinningcat from london (United Kingdom) on 2003-10-22 13:40 [#00914057]
Points: 1073 Status: Lurker

oh yeah it is the best music mag at the moment. but i think
its a bit pretentious.... maybe its just my pretentiouis
friend who has subscribed to it that puts me off. lol.

offline pantalaimon from Winterfell (United Kingdom) on 2003-10-22 13:47 [#00914060]
Points: 7090 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

hehe, i do know what you mean though. When I first started
buying the wire (reccomendation from a friend) i hardly knew
any of the artists and thought the writing was contrived.
Think i've gotten used to it now :)

The cd that comes with it is usually good, expecially the
wire tappper ones.

Did anyone read the interview with the Boredoms where they
tried to explain the change in name to Voredoms? Most
memorable article yet.

i'm hoping there will be news of a new AFX release somewhere
in the interview.

i'm all about the avant-shizzle... i don't need a fucking
magazine to tell me how great really obvious stupid shit
is... if i can find out about it somewhere else with ease,
what good is it to me?

this is why the wire is cool... same with Signal to Noise...

and i think they're wearing pantyhose on their heads... like
burglars... i've heard a few tidbits, here and there about
potential new afx... but it'd be nice to see some
confirmation...

Fuck! I walked like 2 miles through the rain, and Borders
didn't have the issue in yet, then I walked to Powells -
which is the largest independant bookstore in the world -
and THEY didn't have it either!
