There should really be a "Do you want to start a topic on
the mb to discuss this release?
" prompt, shouldn't
there?

every release?

well... this is I htink, the release that took me more time
to get into it.

for the first 2 or 3 months I just didnt like it... but
now... I just love it.

I wa sdissapointed at first with the live analogue feeling
that it has... I prefered the more produced stuff of go
plastic... but now it is that jazzy live feeling what makes
me love this cd

Awesome album, I'd like to see him make another similar one.
Hella better than that musique concrete on Do You Know
Squarepusher? Like some bizarro world Miles Davis. But the
big names in IDM never ''go back in time'', so to speak. So
I guess this album will always be the anomaly in his
discography.

Circular Flexing and Don't Go Plastic ooze cool.

My favourite squarepusher album by far...I love pretty much
everything about this release.

I just can't get into it. DL the mp3 but never bought it.
But I got the "My sound" promo when I ordered DYKS, and I
really like those two tracks...

It wouldn't workjust downloading the MP3's...it is an album
rather than a collection of songs. A couple of tracks have
to be listened to in order to get the most out of it.

music is rotted one note is amazing in every way.

most earlier avant garde jazz has the tendency to be really
obnoxious with the trumpet solos. be it peter brotzman,
ornette coleman, charles gayle.

rotted one note brings all the sound dynamics and
electronics of free jazz and blends them together insanely
well.

but, its still a pretty difficult listen if you cant get
into it. i can listen to it randomly, i just have to be in
the mood. same goes with jazz really.

but yeah, i like it. definitely my favorite, though i do
like stuff like hard normal daddy and go plastic.

I would like to get it... I have listened to a few tracks,
and they were pretty cool... seems like something that would
take me a while to get into, but I'm always up for a
challenge!

there are two jazzy tracks on hard normal daddy - trk 6 and
trk 7. does msuic is rotted... sound like these two tracks.

cos if it does isn't just a big self indulgent medley??

Good. That will def keep the MB more overviewable (is that
really a word?).

tom played bass live lately, which a lot of fans seemed to
think he'd never do again [even though he does have a band
that he played with at the time when he was also playing go
plastic live]...he even played bass with songs like dimotane
co and come on my selector in london this year. just when he
says he wants everything to be totally brutal and
digital, and i started thinking he'd never bass live
again, there he goes again. i don't think that another jazz
release is an impossibility,i think he just gets bored and
changes his mind all the time

He really needs to do more jazz. I'm not all that keen on
his dnb stuff, but Music, Budakhan and the interludes on
Selection Sixteen are stupendously good.

is this like the most underrated squarepusher album?

i rate it very high, tom jenkinson is a wonderful musician.
this album is a great testiment of his awesomness, yes.

i would say that mr j hasnt released anything that 'sounded'
as good as this, well since this release, now, i like go
plastic better, but he really made some great noise stuff
here, i dont care if you dont like drugs, but this release
reminds me of altered states.

yes this definitely is some technofied offspring of Miles
Davis "Bitches Brew"/"Round the Corner" and...um, something
or other.

that's definitely the Squarepusher album that ages best (i
think it's the only one i still listen to with just as much
pleasure as i used to years ago — hasn't aged in the
slightest). my favourite, no need to say. i got into a few
jazz artists after i discovered Music Is Rotted One Note
(even though i'm miles away from being a jazz expert) and i
hear it under quite a different light now too; even though i
knew it was a very jazz-influenced record, i didn't quite
realise how close it was to "real" jazz before...

Love it, for the jazzy feeling, even when it's not proper
jazz.
Being a fan of Straight Jazz before meetin' the pusher, and
meetin' him with Go Plastic, was quite nice to find such
album some years ago...
Also...
"Music is rooted one note" reminds me of the tracktitle "One
note Samba"...
