One of their friends actually gave me that record on 12"
Vinyl when he bought an ASR-10 sampler keyboard off me...
Then a few months later I see them using my sampler on
stage! (Had a bit of duct tape on the back)

I saw that a long time ago but never bought it. I assumed it
was part of their simpler pre- chichlisuite category but
have never heard it.

are you saying chiastic slide is simple?

it ties into Tri Repetae.

it's quite nice. and OOP.

I can imagine possibly creating something of chiastic
slide structure/quality with modplug tracker, but with
freakin track 5 on chichlisuite, there's no waaaay I'd be
able to. I mentally group that in a seperate class of elite
music along with most of come 2 daddy and others. It could
be argued that it's a matter of opinion only but I think it
would be possible to logically categorize these types of
music seperately just as it is possible to categorize
biological organisms seperately. Sure it's a matter of
opinion about generally whether simplicity, chaos or
whatever type of structure is aurally pleasing, but it could
probably be argued that the chichlisuite type category has a
greater degree of sophistication and thought put into it?...
even if that thought is in the form of accumulated cultural
information like software programs. What's OOP?

I just downloaded it today as I realized it could be a while
before I could snag a legit copy.. Interesting stuff.. I
like it quite a bit. Definitely simpler by Ae standards.
From 96? Should be Tri Rep era and it sounds about right.
Sounds a bit more Gescommy .. good track. i downloaded the
second track too but haven't played it yet.

I havn't heard any gescom either. I wish they'd just share
all their aliases. I wonder if they have some gem aliases.
THose fuckers are serious as hell about their craft and it
definately shows.

yeh, i agree that there is something special about
cichlisuite, but I wouldn't say it had more thought put into
it than chiastic slide. you have to remember that all of the
tracks on cichlisuite are based on the same algorithm, an
algorithm which also featured in chiastic slide. so, if
you're comparing this kind of thought to a piece of software
then it's pretty safe to say that the two releases are at
least equal. as for come to daddy i don't think it comes
close to either.
I'd love to hear your chiastic slide style pieces, though.

OOP = out of print.

warpmart used to sell it - I must've been one of the last
people to get it from there.

I think flim is as eloquent as hell. I listened to that
three times in a row last night... every part has high
attention to pleasing aural detail. You can focus on just
the drum sound or just the melody or just that faster weird
repetitive drum sound on top and be equally amazed.

These discuss things are great. Damn useful. If only in the
created message they'd create a link to the actual release.
That'd be great.

Anyway.

I take it then that this is a recommended release?

Nicely concise. Thank you.

I shall try and get hold of it then. Download seems to be
the order of the day as it's OOP.

as far as the thought put into music... I don't think that
something with sounds simpler then something else really has
less thought put into it... really, just think about it...
when Autechre released Amber, and hell even Incunabula, they
weren't as experienced as they are now... probably just as
much though went into a song like Lowride, or Slip, as
something on Confield... it's all relative... when they
release Incunabula, and Amber they had just started, and
they didn't have as much experience, so it probably was just
as difficult for them then to release those albums... now,
they have all these releases under their belts, and years of
experience, and so doing something like Confield is not as
difficult for them as it would've been had they tried it
just after Incunabula... plus, with all the software and
everything around, it's probably a little easier in that
sense... so yeah, I think it's all relative...

obviously now if they tried to release an album just like
Amber, it would probably be easy as hell... but I guess
that's why they progress, they master certain styles as try
another challenge... and that's why it's so frustrating I
guess when artists release the same things over and over...
because you know they're just in a little rut, and are
afraid to challenge themselves... just my thoughts!

I first listened to We R Are Why while playing carmageddon 2
which I liked at that time and - I've quit the game to check
out the name of a song in winamp. Pity I have it only
160kbps mp3:( the quality sucks.

bought the 12" ages ago, it's really, really good ; same
style as tri repetae or the first peel session. one of the
track start with a beat close to closer by NIN, but slowly.

it's a good autechre ep, the only thing i never understood
was the titles.

perhaps it is the only track by ae with no dark feel.. can't
remember a more cheerful autechre track.

It's not completely cheerful now is it? It sort of starts
out quite moody, but turns into something positive halfway
through. It's my fav track on that EP, it's awesome, one of
Ae's best.

It is a really good one. It's one of their best. Really, I
think that Autechre should just encapsulate the best of what
they do and put it together into one thing, so that I don't
have to keep buying their records just to hear some good
music.
