the best is when a guitar solo comes and the singer has to figure out something to do
some times they dance real bad
or make bird noises

I'm a rock and roller, I live and die by a guitar. I feel right when the curves a guitar are in my arms and the strings are gliding under my fingers. Mmm.
I can't really stand long jams and solos anymore though. I like a guitar to just be dressing for a great song. And I can't stand it when songs are built around riffs.

seefeel uses guitar. They run run it through a quadraverb or some other effects unit until it is almost unrecognizable. Me likes. I have a quadraverb, and I use an effect on my zoom pedal called violin which gives it a very slow attack that sounds really nice with the delay and reverb from the quad.
Yeah guitar solos are just ridiculous in this day and age.

There is this band called OLD, they used to do some interesting things with their guitars and basses. Made you think they were synths and sequencers, but no, they were actually playing it all in real time, and processing the shit out of them. That was kinda cool too, until the vocalist started singing that is. Then there wasnt enough warning in the world to run for cover.

I love guitar. I play mine all the time. It is definetly my favourite thing in the world. Nothing beats a good jam with a musician you really click with. you can`t get that with a drum machine. And what if there is a power cut and no batteries existed. Acoustic music is the origin of music and is irreplaceable. I love all music. i love guitar. It consoles me when I sleep. It is my therapist when i feel rage. It is my soother when I am in love. Try do that Aphex Twin! Ha!!

i play guitar and like/hate it.. in a "band" too.. i usually like it when the guitarists do something original/creative with the effects, tunings, chord voicings..etc..
like what bands like radiohead, sonic youth, dillenger escape plan, korn (though i hate most of their music, you've got to admit they were innovative in some ways at least with the guitar)

furthermore (in a non-bumpy kinda way): the best distorted sound imo is on come to daddy (could be anything, and a guitar too yes), the come to daddy bit especially, but that's also that "poing"-thing over it (the sound i always visualize as a string).
i even once heard a cover of it by some mike patton band (you guys heard it?) and the drummer of my band was like: well the drumming's pretty good; but i was like: yeah, prolly, but it still sucks (singing was cool though)

I don't hate the guitar, but Rock and Roll has ruined its sound for me.
Play another fucking instrument for fuck sake. No matter which rock album I listen to, its the same fucking thing. It's part of the reason why I started listening to electronic. More variety.

Yeah, but I've also read it referring to the long speaches of whales (since sound travels slow underwater, they have to recite a long "soliloque" instead of communicating or something, I forget what I read). Guitars are probably biologically related to whales, so there you have it.
