apart from the remix, this release is just great! the two
noise tracks are great!

the first one is the best!

I think this is better quality 'noise' than Merzbow

you?

blergh, the noise tracks are rubbish IMO

the remix is quite OK though

why do you believe that they're rubbish? :O they each have a
lot going on in them, good dynamics, good rhythms!

at last....
i've yet to hear them on a proper sound system, but on
headphones you can really feel the pressure and the
crispation(?) of higher freq making you feel not that great
:D
one Q tho, doesn't anybody find his copy lacking in very-low
end? even in the remix i find no mega sub-bass...

noise lacks emotion imo. and it is so easy to make. I just
can't believe that it is as hard to create as IDM/drill 'n
bass. Look at how many tracks Merzbow has created. to me
noise creation seems a routine job. Good noise can be made
in less than an hour.

The more I listen to it the more I like it. The sound
tracks (not really noise) are very interesting to listen to.

the remix is pretty good, crazy old skool jungle style, only
madder :) i find the kpta's intresting, i like #1 better
than #2. I'll be buying this cd soon

well, I don't know how you say that though - I mean, I've
never created a noise track myself, but the 2 major tracks
of smojphace don't sound like they were knocked up in an
hour.

every tracks on this release lacks in some way for me.

i like some parts of the remix, especially the new "bärng
bärng" bassline and what rich did with the voices.
but the drill was done very crappy imo.
sounds like a messed up amen, sounds like evryone could do
it.
i got to admit that the first time i heard it i had to get
up and jump to the beat.
rating: maybe 5/10

ktpa1 is good. im not much into noise but this is what it
let me feel:
min. 1: oh this is noise but my ears are fine. felt kinda
whoaa aggressive!
later: interesting sounds
later: nice noisy "rhythm" almost wanted to dance or at
least nod the had in quick spastics
later: i had to laugh
at the end of the song i went through all these moods and
thoughts, which is my prove that this song is worthwhile
listening to.
i had to think of a complex mathematical equation and though
i didnt know why i somehow believe i had similar feelings in
those songs.

kpta2 (gotta listen again)
mediocre after one listen (too high noise)

i dont think this is a very good release,
think about NOT buying this

Noise tracks sound too "randomised" for my liking. I
wouldn't hear the difference between a track that is done
somewhere between dinner and dessert and a "noise
masterpiece" (of which I doubt they exist). I think that it
all comes down to some good equipment and smart knob
twiddling. I don't see any perfectionism whatsoever in noise
and I therefore dislike it.

To each his own taste I guess. People who like noise tracks:
By all means enjoy it! It's just not my thing because of the
abovementioned reasons. :)

today some snares sounded better to me than yesterdays
listen.

its funny, yesterdy i had a 1 listen thought: great
2. listen: ok
3. listen (drunk): shit
today its ok

at min 3.50 it gets a bit boring was todays issue.
he is so brilliantly playing jungle in his sets. i liked
that better.

I remember rdj said in a recent interview that the only
thing he couldn't listen to was high pitched noise. So, i
think we all know now why he has released this stuff. He
doesn't like it either.

well i think the term "noise" already indicates that its a
thing you dont really "like".
i think the art in noise is that you scare or annoy people
with sounds and in between you put some parts that let you
enjoy the pain stopping or to have a laugh.
some parts maybe contain interesting sounds aswell.

from this point of view the best part of kpta2 is when it
stops. :)

imo masami akita makes much better noise tracks than rdj
with his ktpa's
i may sound strange but merzbow noise sometimes even has a
calming effect on me, i do not at all get annoyed while
listening to it, i love how the room is filled with his
noise
these ktpa tracks by rdj on the other hand pretty much annoy
me, they indeed lack something
imo these tracks are a failed experiment, james must accept
that he can't do all styles of electronic music or try
harder before releasing something

i wonder what merzbow thinks of these tracks

is noise to me"

i feel uncomfortable with most of pop aswell, i guess thats
what links most of us together here.
but i dont wanna hack on pop, some is quite well.

i know what noise can mean to one.
when i think back of come to daddy then its the noisiest
thing i like and i loved it filling the room. its really bad
ass.

i tried some merzbow after i wnated to figure out bdsm.
but that didnt give me much.
but i could imagine punishing a beauty with these sounds.
it must be particularly funny because she would totally lose
the feeling of what is going to happen to her, since she
cant hear your approach and is minutes can stretch to ages
with that sound :)
must be great watching her getting off then.

i guess i went a bit off topic, didnt i?

Really like the remix, so full on, it also reminds me of the
jungle stuff Rebel MC did (yep!) with some jamaican
dancehall stars a few years ago under the name Jungle
Rebel... but mentaller. I like the way it just fucks up at
the end into distortion and stuff.

The other 2 certainly made me laugh in places, sounds like
my old Amstrad loading up Pro BMX Simulator.

The vinyl looks really cool as well :)

mm. well, I haven't heard the so-called noise-tracks yet,
see if I can d/l them later on.

but is very hard to make a good "noise"-piece, just like its
hard to make any piece of music.

just because you don't listen to this stuff often enough or
even just don't like it, means its less musical than other
things, or more random.

randomness may be a part of the creation-process but the
artist still has to make a choice what he uses and what not,
so there we have composition again.

listen to these tracks on headphones and you will defenatly
feel some "emotions" or "feelings" of some kind, they may
not be "cool" or "dreamy" or "beautiful" "sad"etc... but
feelings they certainly are, and if you can make a track
with noises that makes other feels something, i think you
can call it music (whatever the way or the time used to
create it)...

ps : i still like aphex airlines ten times better :p

The noise tracks sound too DIGITAL, they are rubbish IMHO,
sorry I migth be talking out of my ass, but Merzbow noise
sounds alot "warmer" and isnt annoying to listen to....but I

um...if you guys want noisey stuff that actually took time
to make and are actual soundscapes, check out:

nobukazu takemura - water's suite
nobukazu takemura - scope
desormais - climate variations

kpta1 and 2 sound like he wanked off with reaktor presets or
just fucked about on some random synthesizer. i dont have a
problem with this really, but its just so easy to do.

to demonstrate, i uploaded a noise song i did 3 years ago
when i was 15, having just used reaktor.

semble - stupid wank noise

but of course, aphex noise tracks are better than this,
right?
