Hell yeah man.. nice work.
Love the vocal samples. I could have done with a smidge less of the xylophoneish loop thing.. but still a really good production. We remixed the same ae track, we must have similar tastes, I'd like to hear more of your work.

zebox only allows tracks that are 5MB or smaller (if you don't pay) so right now i don't have a lot of tracks that will fit that bill (i wouldn't expect anyone to listen at 96kbps, i even hesitate to use 128 kbps). i like zebox since it's very simple and doesn't demand a lot of time.
pomme, maybe you'll change your mind once you hear the ae remixes! one track i picked as a challenge, since it is a track i really don't like. the other track i remixed in a completely different style from the original. i wondered if anyone would be annoyed by the vibe repetition, but honestly i love that soft metallic binggg so i let it roll.
i'll post here again if i can upload today, otherwise i'm going out of town for a few days and won't have access.
thanks again for the positive feedback!

technically it's a remix, but 95% of it is what you would consider "additional production," ie not related to the original track. i didn't like the original (though i do like a lot of gg's work), so from the global goon track i only used the obvious vocal, some other vocal snippets, sub-bass, & a cymbal crash. did anyone listen to the other track?

q4z2x i listened to gluoin... and i liked the combination of noise and melody, lots of great sounds. i just wish the melody had developed more, kept building into a more defined motif. but it occurs to me that your approach, abstract towards the autechre spectrum, is very different from mine, which is more poppy with repeating melodic motifs. at least that's my impression. i'll definitely check out more of your tracks when i get the chance.

okay i'm listening to that other track, and i think i like it as much if not more than the other. it's really different than the other one.
i like how it is kind of foreboding and pleasant sounding at the same time. it almost sounds like it has one of those rainmaking things on it in the backround.
one kind of weird thing is, when the file plays it says it's 2:12 but then song goes minutes past that for some reason.

"when the tide went out" was made with guitar, bitrate smudged samples, straight out samples, and two audio editors. i still may tweak it further... yeah, the background sound does sound like a rainmaker, but it's actually the sound of chunks of ice churning around in water!
if you liked those two tracks, you will want to check out the next track i'll be posting in a day or two. it's another mellow one, it will take you back to when you were nine years old and you stood outside on a sunny winter day watching your frozen breath in the sunlight. it's called "voices from nowhere." if you live where it's always warm, it's more like the midnight quiet when distant sounds seem to move around in slow motion...
thanks to everyone for listening (i realize the overload of available unreleased music means everyone's time is valuable), i am working to not only not disappoint, but to articulate the audio transcendent experience. i hope you hear what i mean.
q4z2x, i'm gonna go download another one of yours now!

i've still never seen that video...
celloncllone, i'm planning on acquiring a little more webspace very soon, at which point i will reencode at a higher rate. danke schön for the suggestion, though. i'd definitely prefer 160kbps, when i have more space i'll probably do 192kbps, which is decent sound but still reasonably small files. i'd like to upload the .aiffs, but at 56k it would take hours for one track, and i'd for sure get cut off before it finished. of course, anyone can buy a custom cd from me if they're interested. but you probably haven't heard enough yet.
q4z2x, i just listened to black book, and i thought it was very good, one of the best things i've heard from artists here. it's so short, though, that it seems fragmentary, like it's the last 2 minutes of an eight minute track. i suppose leaving people wanting more is a good thing, however.
i think i might have to reupload "when the tide went out." did anyone else have technical weirdness?

the other one kinda reminds me of fennesz... quite nice... while i listened to it i read about an iraqi man who is suing Tommy Franks and Donald Rumsfeld for 200 million dollars in damages... when the war started he moved his flock of sheep and his large family away from an iraqi military base and into the desert... he set up tents to host 20 of his family members... they were all killed when a missile struck the tent where his female relatives were staying... it's really sad to think about and the song kind of intensified that emotion... thats what good music does...

q4z2x, did you do remixes for the autechre competition?
deadeight, that does lend an unfortunate poignancy to the music, the sadness of loss. fortunately, although the tide has gone out, expectations are that it will come in again. all we can do is pray for our brother who lost so much. if only the music had the power to bring comfort.

yep i did two remixes for the comp. and my other site is here don't expect anything all that good from it. most songs there are my older material and are more straightforward "hardcore" or "drum and bass" songs.. kind of an electronic music parody, in a way.. but there are a few more serious tracks, but they are definitely different stylistically than the newer zebox songs that you have heard.
thank you for listening.

plaidzebra if u wanna go all out, upload some .ape lossless files to a server. cuts the file size down to roughly 50% of the original wav.
otherwise see if u can encode in ogg format @192kbps, ogg seems to have the advantage even tho at the higher bitrates not by much...

thanks a lot for listening! you will have to keep me posted as to when you get some new stuff uploaded..
this, and your location, reminds me of a predicament that me and friends are in, which i'll get to later..
doing electronic music is only part of my joy of making music. i also play guitar in a more traditional music band, but i don't really talk about it here, because this an electronic mb and all. but really, i like to make music in genres that i think need more good music in, not to say that electronic doesn't have some really great artists, i just really wasn't into anything electronic i heard, much of it was so repetitive and non-thought provoking, until i heard some afx, autechre, and some others (not to say that there aren't countless others who are good)..but even now it's getting worse, groups incorporating "idm" elements into shitty music. i think it was Funk from venetian snares who said it best, something like "idm is becoming more of a pissing contest instead of real art." that definitely applies to other musical styles.. and that's the reason for my other band. we take elements of so called, metal, rock, alternative, funk, hip hop, some jazz, folk/country western (almost) and some other stuff, everyone in the band as very different tastes, but we are looking for someone to do keyboarding/sampling/programming etc. i'd like to bring in some of the style similar to the music i do on my own, into our sound, but i'm occupied with playing guitar, so i can't do it myself live.
we are relocating to minneapolis at the end of the summer and since you are from minneapolis, and are into electronic music, i figured you might know someone in the area interested in doing that job possibly..
i know this is a big/strange request, but i really want someone for the job who is into quality electronic music, and is not just someone looking to play keyboards in a more "rock" oriented band, and is a fan of "rock with keyboards"..like the people from around where i live in minnesota.. i want some

Didn't feel so much for the gg rmx...although it had a nice sound to it. It lacked some arrangements, to sort of keep things moving.
The other track was great though. Doesn't need elaborate arrangements, it's not that kind of song.
Keep up the wood gork.
