Sorry to start such a cliche' topic but are there any Slint fans around here? Yeah, it's rock..so what.
And if you are a Slint fan, what did you think of Tweez? Because I only have Spiderland and I'm curious.
Good Morning Captain is a masterpiece.
Discuss.

Slint is VERY GOOD.
you should get Tweez - its a bit louder but still, has some great stuff on it.
nosferatu man is better than goodmorning captain though - OH FUCK the whole record is great.

good morning captain is the best track on spiderland by far...anyways, Tweez is very good as wlel, very raw and unpolished but very good nonetheless, get it!

tweez is "eh" in my opinion. i know some people like it better than spiderland. i dont. not at all. i think spiderland is a superior work of songwriting and performance. if you like that album check out some of pajo's stuff in tortoise, aerial m/papa m, etc... and check out the vocalists "new" band the for carnation.

i'd say the best song on Spiderland is Breadcrumb Trail. Tweez is an excellent album, as well. actually.. anything that is by Slint is amazing.

i wouldn't waste my money on tweez to be honest. the production is horrible. the guitars are drenched with a horrible chorus sound. the songs ain't the best either imho. better of picking up the untitled single and buying some don caballero albums instead.
Am i the only one who doesn't think mogwai are slint ripoffs?? i think mogwai sound more like arab strap wothout the drum machines if anything. there's only one song they have that i'd say sounds like slint.

spiderland is amazing, but tweez is horrible. NOT worth buying in my opinion. It sounds almost nothing like spiderland. And like bill said, the production is also horrible.
It's amazing how much progress these guys made between 2 albums.

I still think Tweez is worth it.
production maybe not as great as on spiderland, but the intensity is there already.
and thats one of the things that made Slint a great band.

The song i'm thinking of is christmas steps. the bit where the weird riff comes in after the cool bass chords sounds kinda like slint i guess.

just bought tweez(recorded by steve albini by the way)and spiderland on cd cos i still play my vinyls to death after about 5 yrs or so,i have to admit i had never heard of them until a friend whilst playing tortoise at my house(millions now living will never die)told me about david pajo, etc.could never fathom out why i had never heard of them cos i used to be obsessed with the jesus lizard and girls against boys(both touch & go bands at the time). it is obvious that mogwai completely ripped em off but so what!!!

I agree with qrter completely, altough the production isnt the greatest, the intensity is there. I dont own spiderland yet(I know, its blasphemous) but ive heard it so Im not completely being blasphemous. anyone of you have that 2 song single?

mogwai always cite them as a major influence, but there's also a lot of MBV, Joy Division, JAMC, and heavy metal influence too of course.. and weirder stuff like scottish folk songs(!)
