ok for fleas sake to spell it out for you...that for a few
people that you see cheering in scenes that dont look unlike
those staged in Wag The Dog

LINK 1. there's 250 actually that have been reported
including a lot of children lying in the hospitals in
Baghdad...with their parents crying and asking the newsmen
what is US's humanity?

LINK 2: links to a story about the Iraqi Shia opposition
party based in Iran who have suffered quite a few of the
atrocities at the hand of Saddam and yet they are opposed to
the war and especially foreign forces occupying their land

LINK 3: links to a story relating to the failure of the US
intelligence community to convince Iraqi miltary officials
to surrender and oppose Saddam

I will add to this that as a foregone conclusion it was Dick
Cheney who repeatedly claimed there would be singing and
dancing to music in the streets and all I have seen is a
handful of people stricken by sanctions from malnutrion who
under close scrunitiy are asking where is the food, water,
and medicine that you promised...

"Basically, the average American does not care if they
are fed ropaganda. They are happy with it as long as the
coverage is patriotic,"

I wish i could understand a word of what was being said on
Al Jazeera :-/ The cablecompany has actually been so kind as
to let us receive that channel... but sadly it doesn't come
with subtitles. The images are pretty much the same as on
cnn anyways, but it would have been really interesting to
know what was being said :-/

I just go to the website and look at the pictures, in an
assignment for a Training module at Uni I made a flash
Battleship game but included a screen with a collage of Anti
War sentiment about Iraq Palestine and Afghanistan using
pictures of bombed out buildings, people in despair etc all
sourced from Al Jazeera...a picture CAN say 1000 words and I
got to make a statement which was well received by my
classmates

1. Yes, there's civilians in hospital, this is entirely
unexpected. These people may well ask where the US' humanity
is, you can hardly blamed them when they're the inadvertant
victims of military action. The fact remains though that
there's no intention to injure civilians and the military
have gone out of their way to make sure as few as possible
are.

2. It's hardly a surprise that Shias based in Iran are
opposing military action. There's still 206 Iraqi opposition
groups who are.

3. It would have been nice if more senior Iraqi officers had
surrendered so far, though I don't expect for one minute
that General Franks was relying on it. I dare say the fact
that Republican Guard officers have been despatched to the
regular divisions has something to do with it.

4. The people will get their humanitarian aid soon enough.
This process will be greatly aided when the mines in the
waterway leading to Umm Qasr are cleared up.

"pictures of bombed out buildings, people in despair
etc
"

Yes but cnn is also showing bombed out buildings and people
in despair. It's the comment that determines the way you
interpret images.

*looks at the al jazeera-site*

Altough i must admit there are some really disturbing images
there that i haven't seen on cnn at all :-/ Maybe i should
watch it on tv more often after all. I usually get
frustrated after a couple of minutes because i don't
understand it... i must try harder.

"this is entirely unexpected."

you must be joking... hundreds of bombs so far, and they
weren't expecting any victims to fall?!

"The fact remains though that
there's no intention to injure civilians and the military
have gone out of their way to make sure as few as possible
are.
"

Yes, but this is exactly what all the protesters worldwide
have been trying to warn president bush about, and also why
they think war is not the right option... because no matter
how hard you try to avoid it, it's always the innocent
people that are hurt the most by a war.

The protesters refuse to acknowledge people would keep dying
under Saddam's regime.

Military action or no military action, innocent Iraqis are
going to get killed. At least this way offers some realistic
hope that there will be an end to the death of innocents.

Ofcourse Saddam's regime must be ended, i don't think any of
the protesters want to just leave iraq alone and let them
work out their own problems.

But it's really only this one man they're after... why
should the whole country have to suffer because of it?
Surely there are other ways to get saddam.

They've even been able to interview the man! I mean... come
on... with a more subtle approach they would have probably
been able to catch him aswell. They could have at least
tried before they started with the bombs :-/

Correction to my comment about Dick Cheney making the Iraqi
dance remark...it was indeed actually Donald Rumsfield

so if the US/UK allies kill them that makes it ok just like
you dismissed the civilian casualites in Baghdad...tell that
to the girls parents whose daughter was sitting having
breakfast in her home when a bomb exploded 15 metres from
her window... and will never walk again I presume you think
that that was a "mistake"

The end to the death of Iraqis was the peaceful
disarmarnment of Iraq was quote "via the UN was achieveable
in 3 months"...this way is resulting in a death for Iraqis
not liberation...more Iraqis have been killed by the
sanctions then by Saddam and secondly it has been the
oppression of constant attacks and sanctions that has
strengthened Saddams position to such a degree that now half
the country has to be destroyed to dislodge him...why wasnt
he removed after the first Gulf War. What did those hundreds
of thousands killed in the bombing raids of Gulf War 1 die
for?

Currently the US/UK ground troops are waiting outside the
stragetic oil city of Basra while its being heavily bombed
yet the news headlines last night told us repeatedly the
city had been taken...and they wanted to keep the city
intact. Right now 50 has been reported dead and 2000 injured
in Basra...how chickenshit is that? Operation Iraqi Freedom
indeed..

I see you use rhetoric as form of discussion to form your
arugment...the bottom line here is the Iraqis dont want
foreign troops in their country and neither do they want to
be an American colony with all the oil syphoned out all they
wanted by agreeing to the inspection process was a lifting
of the sanctions
