Is this a joke?!
I noticed it is now playing on the frontpage of the
warpsite... but this has got to be one of the most boring
things i've ever heard from aphex :-s

I hope the other 25 mixes are going to be a bit better than
this.

the cow bells are definitely a joke (and a bad one too i
might add)

It's still recognisable as windowlicker if that's what you
mean. The cowbells don't even annoy me so much, it's more
the fact that it's so repetitive... nothing happens, nothing
interesting at all.

It also sounds like at the end the warpsite just faded it...
the album-version lasts longer, no?

i agree, it is pretty boring...
they disagree on boomkat tho-this is taken from their
review:
"Plus, of course, the new Acid Edit of Windowlicker (yes,
it’s ace)"
if this is sarcastic or not i can't judge :)
imo, certanly one of his weakest tracks (perhaps it will
grow on me)

What about that SAW-remix? Har Richie lost "the touch"?

I like the Acid Edit. It's nowhere near as good as the
original but if I had t on vinyl it'd be great for mixing in
over the top of something but not for playing. I think it's
missing something.

I like the Bowie thing.

Eh the Acid Edit is nice. Easy on the brain.

The bowie track is nice. I love the orchestra sounds in the
back. Makes me think of Final Fantasy 3 flying around in the
air ship.... nice song.

i don't think it's any less a joke than his last 'album.'
(which could have made an outstanding ep, without all the
horrid fiddly crap filler on it.)
it is rather a 'dumb' track, but it's fun, nonetheless.

Okay, so i'll do what all the moderators and webmasters seem
to want us to do, and also use this thread to talk about how
i feel about 26 mixes as a whole (bought it earlier today,
now listening for the first time).

"zeros and ones, aphex twin reconstruction#2" is playing at
the moment, and this is awesome! Very dark and atmospheric
and i like it alot :-)
Another one that immediately stood out for me was the
glass/bowie remix. The orchestration there is fantastic. I
never heard the original, so i have no idea who exactly is
responsible for what... but it sounded so good and so
dramatic... i loved it. The vocals sound really seperated
from the rest of the sounds, which for me totally changed
the feeling of this song. I mean the original david bowie
song, that one always sounded euphoric and very uplifting to
me... the aphex-version sounds sad and depressing. (in a
good way).

But... so far so good, i'm liking this album alot more than
i was expecting to :-)

I only paid 18 euros for it (got one of those scratch-card
out of a bag of Lay's Crisps... if you know what i'm talking
about. Gives you 4 euros discount at free record shop).

But yeah, had i paid 22 euros for it, i would have felt it
was worth it! Especially if you (like me) didn't know any of
these mixes yet.

Man, the beauty of being numb is incredible :-) What a cool
atmosphere, it sounds like music being played in a moody and
dark bar in the very late hours.

Wow... and the highlight so far is definitely "let my
fish loose, aphex twin remix"

Goosebumps and everything.... that girl's (?) voice is so
beautiful.

Does anyone know nobukazu takemura? Is his other music
anything like this? Wow... i love this track :-D I
can't get over it... it's so moving and delicate.

the reason it is there at all is to SELL the album. it lets

"i'll let you know what there like"

Yeah i'd like that very much! :-) Thanks. I had never heard
of him... but it seems i've been missing out :-p

Coincidentally, i also bought a cornelius-cd today :-)
(fantasma)... it's crazy but wonderful. It sounds like my
entire cd-collection is condensed into this one album :-p So
varried... and so many different musical-styles are combined
as if they had always naturally belonged together.

Hm... the 2nd disc of 26 mixes sounds alot harsher and more
agressive than the first. It's pretty good, but i think i
preferred the 1st.

Deep in Velvet is awesome, one of the best tracks on the
second disk!

I think 26 mixes is one of his best albums so far, some
brilliant tracks on there.

I think the acid edit is prob the weakest though, its like
no effort went into it.

I've only got point by Cornelius, i'll have to get fantasma.

its not horrendous or anything, but it just sounds like
someones got bits of windowlicker straight off the original
and put them against a pleasant beat. i reckon the original
could have been taken apart a bit more and new harmonies and
bits of melody and other interesting things put in!

not a bad album though... like the seefeel, the NIN, the
wagon christ and the nav katze #1 the best. also the new SAW
mix is nice. i think its the one off the peel session. i
recognise it.
