sorry if ther's already been a post about it, i just
received a muzik-news mail with this in it:

MUSICIANS UNITE TO STOP THE WAR AGINST IRAQ

Rappers, musicians, singers and songwriters recently joined
forces to speak out against the US led war against Iraq. The
advert, which ran with the headline 'War On Iraq Is Wrong
And We Know It', was printed in Wednesday’s edition of the
New York Times. The campaign is backed by over 50 music
stars, from all genres, including Jay-Z, Missy Elliott,
George Clinton, Lou Reed, Nas, Autechre, Blu Cantrell, and
Sheryl Crow. The advert focused on the US government, with
the message:

'Don’t let Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld drown out the voices
of reason'.

It also referred to ‘disarming Iraq with tough
inspections’. The page ad was made by Musicians United To
Win Without War - an organisation founded by former Talking
Heads frontman David Byrne and rap guru Russell Simmons.

On the organisation’s official website they describe
themselves as

"A loose coalition of contemporary musicians who feel that
in the rush to go to war by the Bush administration, the
voices of reason and debate have been trampled and ignored.
We feel that war is not inevitable, though to be honest the
US media and government have made us feel that it has become
a forgone conclusion".

official website at: http://www.moveon.org/musician" united

Fuck that.

That damn right pisses me off.

I know some people who would go as far to say "I don't agree
with them, so I'm not going to listen to their music
anymore."

Well I'm not like that, but it does piss me off.

Yes, all you music makers sit back and enjoy the drug
enduced visuals and harmony. The world is perfect. All is
peaceful.

I'm sorry, but there are times when you have to fight.

Some people out there - all they do is bitch.

Hell, they hear 'war' and they start bitching up a storm.

Did you see that article in the washington times today about
the National Gaurds' kids, whom are being HARASSED by
teachers in school. The teachers are anti-war, and are
taking it out on the kids of Marines.

Fuck, that.

These people love bitching. It's like that's all
they do. They always have to complain or bitch about
something.

Good. I'm glad I can live a life where finding something
wrong in every little thing isn't mainstream. I do hate a
lot of people in my country, but for many different reasons
that other people of the world.

I'm all for this war. I'm sick of seeing us help everyone
out, including the people we are fighting. No one realizes
how much fucking shit we put up with to keep this world
stable.

This puts Autechre in a bad spot in my eyes.

But hey, I listen to them for their music, not for their
philosphical beliefs and opinions on the war. I love it,
popular people or celebrities get together and protest the
war.

IS THIS SUPPOSED TO MAKE ME FEEL SOMETHING? Because I don't
feel shit. I feel the same as when I see protestors on the
street.

Just because they are popular, doesn't make their opinion on
a topic any greater than an ordinary person. Why do they
get so much publicity for protesting? Huh?

Awww, Autechre doesn't want me to go to war. I better roll
up a joint and listen to some of their tunes so I know how
to become a tree huggin' hippy and learn the real truth.
THERE IS NO POINT TO WAR.

Riiight. We a

-are a country who goes over the top to try and maintain
world peace. No other country does as much as we do to help
others. No one out there really gives a shit. We give so
much money and food to other countries, and then they spit
back at us right in the face.

What do _you_ think. Stop looking 10days into the future
and look at the big picture. Do you think that the war
today is worth fighting for, if it helps prevent a major
chemical or biological attack in the future?

Is the small amount that we give today worth saving the
large amount we can lose in the future?

Oh whatever.

I love this country, and give thanks to those who have
fought before me to give me what I have today.

The ability to do what I want.
The ability to really _live_ my life.

Too many people in this country take it for granted, and oh
how I would love to take it away from them. Just for
10seconds. 10 seconds would be enough to make them realize
what they have, and what they "shrug off."

Nah, fuck that. Autechre is anti-war. I like their music
and think they are very good at what they do. Sure as fuck
doesn't mean I'm going to let their opinion affect me at
all. I'm sorry, but a lot of you people are influenced too
easily by people/muscicians/celebrities/whatever. Follow
your eyes and ears that you were born with, not this
roundabout circular logic that has you trolling in circles.

What will it take. Another 9-11-like attack? A biological
attack? A chemical attack? A Nuclear attack? When is it
OK for us to go to war?

Oh, and for you "know-it-alls," do you really think you know
everything about this story? Yes, the .gov is going to
release all the details so the public knows the whole
picture. Hah, right.

I trust my .gov to make the right decisions. I helped vote
them in, and I am allowing them a chance to do their job.

If my country calls me to fight for her, I sure as hell
won't have any second guesses. I'll sign up and do my
duties. I owe my life to this country.

There is no other place i'd rather be living and under than
the U.S.

Too many people sitting back, bitching, and not doing
anything about it. Protest by day, and revert to evildoers
by night. 2-faced people who "think" they know what's good
for the country.

Want to know the real root of all war?

Religion

Let's get rid of religion. After all, wars have been fought
from the beginning of time by difference of opinion. People
read too far into their religion.

Religion is something that is for the human being to adapt
to, to help them get through their life on the things that
plague them for things we cannot understand. Maybe Religion
is the root of all evil. Maybe the true God doesn't want
religion, and doesn't want to be worshipped. Maybe it is
the devil who created religion and the thought of God for
the people to follow. Government laws and rules are derived
from those peoples' religious beliefs. Therefore, religion
has been a factor in
every-single-war-this-world-has-been-through.

Yes, all you music makers sit back and enjoy the drug
enduced visuals and harmony. The world is perfect. All is
peaceful.

> who said this? ok, we endure nothing compared to other
people... but do you really think bombarding people will
make it better?

Hell, they hear 'war' and they start bitching up a storm.

> you don't realize what war is, do you?
well, neither do anyone of us until we subished it, i guess.
but you can at least try to imagine.
have you heard the news? they would be ok to destroy their
missiles. but usa still want to make war to them. all they
want is their oil or what...
plus, this parallel they do with al-qaeda is just bullshit -
if it existed, they would have told the world what it is,
instead of just saying "it exists"!!
it's just so easy.

These people love bitching. It's like that's all
they do. They always have to complain or bitch about
something.

> right, but weren't you bitching too with this post? :)

No other country does as much as we do to help others.

> and no other country does so much either to monopolize, to
spread their mcdonalds coca-cola etc. "culture"
everywhere... ' _ '

What will it take. Another 9-11-like attack? A biological
attack? A chemical attack? A Nuclear attack? When is it OK
for us to go to war?

> come on, was 911 attack that bad... 3000-like people died,
is it that terrible? (i don't know how many people they
killed after that for their counterattacks...) it is more
for the symbolic value, you thought you were invincible and
this attack, proving you the contrary, drove you mad... ' _
'

elusive, I agree with you. Quite a few people are starting
to see War is one of the only options left (and I hate the
whining people here in the Uk, saying ridiculous things
like, "Tony Bliar is only going to War coz he sucks Bush's
cock", and things to this effect)

Also, they're just musicians...Bar Moby (who, although i
hate his music, believe to be very intelligent) these people

Israel, etc, etc...) the world would be total chaos.
