NME gantz graf review

Autechre records are purchased solely by bald men in
expensive anoraks who would masturbate to a car alarm if it
was re-mixed by a German. This impenetrable curtain of
misanthropic noise - released with an accompanying
three-track DVD that features a squabble of hopelessly
pretentious video "interpretations" - is typical of the
menopausal electro-manglers' dogged refusal to bow to
convention and produce anything of interest to anyone not
either a) bald or b) German. It bleeps. It skronks. It
krrraaaanks. But mainly, it blows like a ruddy awful
hurricane. Remember, kids; if it sounds like a festering
hillock of tune-shy bum-wank, it's because it IS a festering
hillock of tune-shy bum-wank. Avoid as you would a bald
German.

Sarah Dempster

hahahahaha! funny, but of course grossly unfair. it's bad
enough that the NME even bother to review autechre releases
(check out their review for the splitrmx 12") but they had
to top it all off and give it to a female reviewer? i know
some girls/women that like ae but let's be honest here, the
ladies like the pretty melodies (generally speaking).

hehe, kind of amusing really. and i totally understand that
this kind of music isnt for everyone, and far from it.

oh well, who cares what magazines write? i get the feeling
it'll do the same as for the rollingstone's review of
drukqs...

thats pathetic, NME should be ashamed of doing reviews like
that

what makes me laugh is that, when a popular magazine really
rates an idm release, many people are a little pissed,
because they say that the reviewer only wants to look cool
or whatever. and when they bash an idm release, the
reviewer doesnt know what theyre talking about...

Its her opinion and she is entitled to it, but I bet she
smells and masterbates whenever she sees a puppy, festering

hillock of tune-shy bum-wank is... whats wrong with germans!

my solution is, dont pay attention to popular magazines for
a review of idm albums. i base myself on actual fans like
on this mb, or good idm sites, ie absorb.

give Sarah Dempster some respect:) this anti-sexual and
probably too fat lady has written a review about something
she could not even pronounce in the music shop.

NME+ae??? damn it sucks.

know. Maybe it will be like Confield and have an accquired
taste to it or something.

Oooh, an ex friend knows her.

He's an idiot. She's an idiot.

Whoohoo!

Here's some insider info - she once got sacked from a
newspaper for reviewing a gig that she didn't go to. They
found out because the gig was cancelled.

That was a decent interview, nah it was actually pretty good
;)

I mean im a bald head man and I got some pretty damn
expensive anoraks. I would definitly masturbate to a car
alarm if it
was re-mixed by Arovane (hes german) ;) LOL

and the whole Gantz Graf release is just a impenetrable
curtain of misanthropic noise.

I rather listen to PROEMS latest release.

Proems new EP No Carrier is just AMAZING!!! its noise but
beautiful layers of melody on top of it, glítch hop at its
best (this is what AE should release).

If u like AE get No Carrier.

she made her point?

her point is a complete cliché. its boring.
to make a point you have to say something you really mean
i.e. thought of yourself.

I like no_carrier.

gantz graf is better though.

I don't care what she thinks of the record, the racist views

more music journalism is not as insightful.

haha... the people who review for nme all seem to have
personal problems which they vent through scathing reviews
of albums they probably only skimmed through, listening to a
few minutes of each track...by artists they've never heard
of
she was probably just dumped by a german guy with an
affinity for expensive anoraks and bleepy electronic
music..

has anyone read their review of squarepusher's selection16?
its a classic too...
that guy's hatred seems more directed to students
(especially film and art students) i suspect that review
stems from him not being able to go to college for whatever
reason...
funny...these reviews dont seem to say much about the actual
music

the reviews...

she's absolutely right...gantz graf IS a complete
garbage,and its a great review..

btw NME is a very professional magazine, and their
journalists are much more music-educated and have a wider
point of perspective then you guys, cuz you listen only to
idm music....

I've noticed that too...

Personally I'm not a huge AE fan, but I think Gantz Graf is
weak, even by their standards. I think the rascist comments
were a bit off though.

it was a funny review, I didnt like the German diss tho.

Dunno about NME too, they had some shitty reviews thru these
years.

and GG is AEs worst release so far imo.

I don't like GG

But NME is complete toss. They talk fucking shite and
constantly jump on bandwagons, then desert the bands they've
championed when they go out of fashion.

Absolute wank.

agreed, the NME is really far too fashion orientated to
seriously when it comes to music...

I'm one of the minority that actually likes GG...one of the
few releases of late that can take repeated listens without
becoming boring...

i don't like gantz graf the song, dial and cap.iv i love.
but she has a point; it's hard to call gantz graf (the song)
music anymore.

it only makes sense if you see the dvd (which i got in the
mail today!). calling that pretentious is dumbass. it's the
first video i've seen where the song actually becomes
visible. it looks like something from an iain m. banks
novel. with its superb graphics, it completely shatters away
the other 2 videos.

just has shit in it.

She has a pont regarding the fans. There is a certain level
of pretentiousness with AE obsessives. If I see one more
topic entitled 'Rate these AE/BOC/SQ tracks' or 'What is
your favourite track off Amber while taking a dump on a
Wednesday?' I'll scream.

it's a pity people have to see the video to actually
understand the track... this is how i always see them inside
my mind.

on the other side, it's damn cool you can actually visualize
tracks like this. quite stunning!

Yeah, I think you're right, flea...AE seem to go thru this
initial reaction to most of their stuff...give it a year and
these sort of sounds & textures & rhythms won't sound so
alien...
