ditto on I care because you do, it was really the first
Aphex twin I had ever heard, and Aphex Twin is what changed
my perspective on music.

drill n' bass with computers.

first one was Beck's Mellow Gold in '94
second was Autechre's Confield in 2002,
Confield having the more profound effect, now alot of the
music i used to listen to sounds boring.

aphex twin - richard d james album

i'd heard stuff like orbital before, but aphex was the first
thing i'd heard that was something different - like
different sounds and rhythms and stuff.

Aphex Twin: Drukqs

I a newbie to Aphex Twin, but when I first heard this album
in its entirety, I proclaimed it one of the best albums of
all time. I cant find anything wrong with drukqs.

hmmm, maybe Kid A by Radiohead... I mean, when I got that
album and started reading reviews and researching about it
on the net I found links to Aphex Twin, and Autechre, and
other electronic artists, and I guess that's what started it
all... I could name lots of others I guess... I've actually
thought a lot about the albums that have led me to
electronic music, and lots of albums by Genesis, and Rush,
and other bands really sparked my interest in keyboards and
synths and stuff, and so I guess they were important... but
maybe Kid A is the most important as far as me getting into
IDM is concerned...

nobody mentioned saw2 :((
this album should be called "noble minimalism"- apx uses
minal menas to create maximal effect. one of the most
important records ever made for me.

SAWII bores the hell outta me... sorry, but with the
exception of a few, it sucks ass imo... but I'm not really a
big fan of pure ambient music anyways...

confield?

offline The_Funkmaster from St. John's (Canada) on 2002-06-21 20:23 [#00278880]
Points: 16280 Status: Lurker

yeah, it is just my opinion... I don't want any one taking
it personally or anything... SAWII just isn't my thing...
:)

Confield? Well, I haven't heard it yet... I'm trying to work
my way up... I have all Autechre's albums up to and
including LP5, except for Amber... and I have heard Amber...
and all of them are really good... next is EP7 for me, and
then Confield...
