(both are federated.) i remember thinking: lemmy sounds like cammy, and that was nert's thing. lemmy sounds like an incredibly british name for a thing; that's a good start the reddit format would be fine if it were just a community the size of xlt. so i bailed on reddit but not because of the format |

There will only be one Xlt. i'm inclined to agree. this is merely, "let's start another pub as a backup in case this one burns down! but we have to be careful not to build it too close to be a competitor; that will promptly split everyone into two camps and two uncles getting into a fight at a family bbq gathering etc my complaints with discord, actually -- other than that -- are 1) i've spent so much time using slack for work that i have an immediate, very non-positive reaction to spending my leisure time in an app that looks and feels identical. ughhGHHHGHH 2) it's a nightmare for ADHD! i put up with the interface, but finally quit after, "I signed on 'for five minutes' turned into "i've drowned the same three people in text for four hours¹ and i've missed all the other dozen people on here because they're in a different time zone. and FOUR HOURS GONE AGAIN and that's it. I QUIT THIS DISCORD THING BECAUSE IT IS UNHEALTHY FOR ME. i'll stick with XLT that washes stuff in with the tide on a daily cycle, because this is time-tested: i only go way overboard occasionally That Tony and I have been sassing each other over Discord (lol) but it really did come down to the thought, "I quit this discord thing because it is unhealthy for me" and that happened before Tony and I were locked into a Mexican standoff. But I'm sure as hell never coming back to discord now. How's the mandatory AI integration going? ¹ Apparently people like this more than long forum posts? I give up trying to understand |
