Albums you've listened to recently for the first time in years...

Decided to make this thread after putting on Surrounded by
Silence by Prefuse 73, probably for the first time since the
few months after buying it. I'm not really sure why it's
been so long, it's a damn good listen.

I listened to Amber recently for the first time in years. I
thought it would be ambient music, but not at all! It's
great, straight autechre beats. Lovely.

appretiamber!

i think its one of the most especial ae albums, as it sounds
somehow different to the rest of their albums, which follow
a very clear and common evolution. its like a little gemm in
the middle of the dark rock of electronic music, a secret
amber bubble containing a very special treasure inside, a
unique sound from an unknown time... (haha im half awake
now...)

I was playing draughts with my girldfriend when, after some
Freescha, I put the Amber CD, thinking: this ambient music
will please her, and anyway I don't care if she likes it, at
least it'll be a good opportunity to finally have a listen
to this album I don't know well. I was a bit scared of her
reaction when the first beats appear, and first track
sounded scary and like a damaged machine to her ears. But
then she loved the rest album.

A few days afterwards, she asked me if we could listen to it
again.

i absolutely love that album as well (was the first music i
ever bought for myself!) but consider it to be their weakest
effort overall.

how can you consider any album that doesn't contain "killing
in the name" and "freedom" to be the "most pissed off?"

Your working class background shines through the music taste
you people have.

My favorite line from that album:
"I've been driving down rodeo with a shot gun, these people
ain't seen a brown skinned man since their grandparents
bought one!" :P

Acid Bath, both albums. I think Bleed Me An Ocean might be
the second greatest song ever written, after The Beginning
and the End by Isis.

A lot of Anal Cunt... in doses.

Cryptopsy's 'None So Vile'

Pig Destroyer, Obscura, Necrophagist, early Mastodon.

Early BoC and Autechre

And The Four Tops.

It's weird how stuff you kinda tolerated can become
exhilarating years later.

Which Jeff Mills mixes?

I'm really digging James Barth - Stealin' Music right now,
this one takes me way back.

Otherwise its been long sunset drives on the weekend with
shades on and pipe lit with these bad boys:

Wooden Shjips - Dos
the Gonjasufi album
Dj Cam - Substances
Seefeel - Succour
and Swayzak - Himawari

Also giving Dopesmoker by Sleep another go, it's all about
the state of mind you're in

Had never even heard of Acid Bath before. Not the sort of
music I'm normally into, but bleed me an ocean is great,
thanks for the tip.

brought some of the old regulars out of the woodwork. :)
