I always thought he was a twink, and had him in the same
category as Squarepusher as somebody technically on top of
their game but simply and starkly lacking in the geniality
they're praised for, until a few weeks back. I heard Lunatic
Harness in full and it actually reached my emotions and
brain, on a rewarding level. I've been listening to it on
and off since, and there are some real moments on it that
get me in the nads, while there are still plenty that are
simply exercises in break chopping to my ears.
What do y'all think of the album and μ-Ziq in general?

µ-ziq bangface 2012 set. he's really good, and that set promises
great stuff to come.

Cheers, I'll check it out out. What do you think of
Squarepusher?

I'll give Royal Astronomy a proper shot. I feel compelled to
say that Expert Knob Twiddlers probably has some of the most
depressing sampling I've heard, which was why it took me a
long time to even consider checking Paradinas' other shit.
That album still gives me the willies

Tango is the best. Followed by Bluff. I quite like his last
one (D.A.S.D.T) pumped up it is a bit all the same levels
wise. Lunatic & Bilious are solid pieces. IMO.

I never really thought his rep as 'top tier idm honcho' was
justified. Sure, there are some releases, like Bilious Paths
that have some good tracks on them. By and large, though,
talking about him in the same breath as Aphex, BoC, Ae and
[]

i have to say its weird, hearing you talk like this about
mike. back then he was in the same league with aphex and
sort for me. one of the first tracks i downloaded from ss
was uziq with hectors house...

i bought lunatic harness and royal astronomy in a small
record store in my village. and loved it so much. when i
bought expert knob twiddlers afterwards, i thought: okay
mike and rich were having a nice weekend with burps and
shit. nothing more.

and when i heard bilious paths i was quite dissapointed,
because his old shit was so fucking great. but then, i mean
he has his own label that is great!

so mike... u rule.

alter ego KID SPATULA. one of his youngest creations. i love
it.

See any of the bits above still have that sound of somebody
"banging out tunes" rather than writing music. That was
always my problem with Paradinas. His stuff never has that
musical quality to it that I hear in so much other work, it
just sounds forced and contrived to me. To each his own I
s'pose. Except for the stuff I don't like, obviously that's
shite

I like a lot of Mike's older material (namely TnV
re-release) and some of his other work.

I had Royal Astronomy playing in the car a few months back
and the g/f liked quite a few of the tracks, so I would say
that's his most accessible.

Lastly, he had a couple of wicked House/Techno tracks under
his Heterotic alias, which were up my alley.

He's an mp3.com drop out peddling ham fisted cacophony.
Every week his mom secretly pretends to be a new person and
makes a pity purchase.

FILIGREE ANUS, and whale soup.

I adore both his older, mad smacking-the-headroom shit, and
also his DnB-influenced middle-period stuff a la Lunatic
Harness and Bilious Paths. Those two albums especially,
actually. Great fun.

What the fuck was Duntisbourne about? Was he planning to
kill himself or something? So depressing

Is that genuinely µ-Ziq's genuine Soundcloud? It all sounds
so horrifically amateur, but I can't honestly tell if it's
just a fake or the real dealio

It has to be a fake... but it still caught me for a minute.
Kinda highlighted to me that my expectation of anything new
he may release is that it will be stale and washed out

Posted that last reply before I saw yours j. I'm pretty
appaled if that's what he's coming out with these days.
Everybody writes shite music, but to be putting stuff of
that calibre out online... the fuck is he thinking

There's some good stuff in that new µ-Ziq link. Some of it
is from his Heteortic alias, at least I thought.

Anyway, the song that comes in around 16:50 is GREAT.
Hopefully that makes the cut on his new release.

Interesting to hear him finally utilize an 808 as well.

Alright you guys gotta help me, this is wracking my brain.

The song at 13:00 has a synth line pop in around 13:48 that
sounds like it came from another song (sampled or
otherwise).

For the life of me I can't remember what the song is.

Took some searching, but the track I was thinking of was
Dykehouse - Last Song.
