does Vsnares still perform using CRT monitors?

Nice idea of a thread, ain't it?

I've got one CRT standing in the corner gathering dust and
taking up space. Its screen is whole lot of 17 inches.

Would like Vsnares to take it away for only 4 canadian
dollars if he accidentally visits Kiev, Ukraine.

i have one that came with a screen protector and a post-it
note that said "Amber Monitor." but it's mine, Vsnares can't
have it.

You just reminded me what an insane ball ache it was to
transfer CRTs to gigs. :)

I got rid of my last CRT last year. It was a 22" inch job,
that weighed a tonne. Had insanely high resolution (higher
than 1080P) for how old it was. Considering when I bought
it, 14" was the norm and 17" was considered large, this
thing looked enormous.

If Aaron Funk wants it, it's probably been melted down and
is now part of several other products as I took it to the
recycling centre.

You must have been rich at those 14'' times to buy that
monster.

Spam me a trackie from these gigs you've mentioned, would
you.

aaron didn't play "live" in years. he's mixing his own
tracks from 2 cdj players. sometimes he takes a laptop or a
bit of additional gear but no crt monitors.

I know I could check if he performs myself, just decided to
start a thread here instead.

I thought that CRT monitors are part of his style and will
stay forever.

for some reason crt monitors were a essential part for the
whole breakcore scene. to go even further i remember parties
with 4-5 commodore 64s and a shared screen.

imho that's because most of the techno scene was playing
from vinyls or drum machines and breakcore was mostly made
on trackers.

Do you think that you managed to scare or in any way amaze
xlt users by mentioning moist balls?

Moist balls can not end an xlt thread, especially in written
form. Donate $10 to Phobs and vipe the thread with attached
images of dismemberfest until the poor thread gets deleted,
as well as your account!

Vsnares can still visit me in Kiev and take away my 17''
CRT. It is an LG.

i have one of the largest CRT's in europe from a CTX demo
stand (new tech conference thing) needed a fork lift to get
it on the lorry and take it to the farm. Kept it under 100
black bags cellotaped together until we could get a new barn
to set it up. it uses 35000 wats when i have brightness at
75 percent.

33KG of Tech

Matvey, far from it: I lived in a terrible bit of town
opposite a house full of junkies. I found a very good deal
on an Iiyama one and I spent a huge proportion of my savings
on it. I was doing multimedia at university the following
year and had already decided it was a massive ballache
scrolling the screen around with low resolution monitors.
Plus, I wanted to be able to display whole fruityloops
tracks on one screen without it scrolling as it played. :D

Here's that spam you ordered. Get it whilst it's lukewarm.

Absinthe Boys Afterparty material.

Only played out once at The Coaching House in Cardiff, IIRC.

This got rinsed a couple of times in various venues around
Bristol and Bath.

this would have been the last gig I took a CRT to.
That was 2006.

no, the brochure is full of it. you need to dim the lights.

the real miracle is that it's a 120lb beast from 1979 and it
still works.

I've got about 250 unfinished [e]NTRENCHED tracks, mostly
from 2005-2008. I've only got about a dozen complete ones,
but will try to get the best of them up.

I'm very glad that despite being tagged as dubstep, it is
not it.

Apology accepted; [e]NCHANTED is a great typo. :D

I would agree, it's nothing like the hyperactive brostep
contemporary nonsense that many people now call Dubstep. I
made this back in 2006 and was trying to get that
introspective meditative quality like early DMZ tracks had
(I'm not comparing it to DMZ; it's not a patch on it, that's
just the feel I was going for).

Trivia: Bhutan was also played out at gig in the woods near
Bath. It was awesome being in a gazebo with the rain coming
down, in the middle of the woods and the lighting being
provided by lots of candle lanterns. Probably the most
enjoyable gig I did. I think I had moved to laptop & LCD 2nd
monitor by then though.

Whilst I'm on a spamming note, check out my "Monoid" thread,
there's a real blast from the past in there.

I guess back in the day he used to bring a desktop but one
show it got fucked up so he just played windows booting up
and shutting down for a bit. It's cool to see him mix with 2
cdj's. Laptop at gigs are kind of boring to watch.

i actually like CRTs a lot, except for the flicker. they
have a much nicer tone than most LCDs.
