Don't like the album cover. Empty the Bones and Body Riddle
had the best covers.

the cover was the best thing about turning dragon.
looking forward to this one though, growls garden was good.

i think this one has at least 1 more vocal track like growls
garden, maybe more, i like the look of the track lengths
too. if this is half as good as i think it will be, its
gonna be sick as balls.

Maybe I will in a minute... or maybe I'll go down the shops
instead.

I like some of his arrangements, sounds and ideas, but as
usual it's a big messy soup to listen to and way too loud.
He really went off the deep end now, it's like 2 times
louder than my own tracks.
It has a really compressed sound to me, like listening to a
brick wall.

Some of the synths like on growls garden sound insane too..

you guys are gonna sleep on this? its so good. sick ass
carnival grooves. a tiny bit of acid. a lot of clark. 50x
better than turning dragon. a bunch of vocals this time
around. so well done.

LI'm listening to it right now...i like it.

He really tries something on this album. Like cx, i find it
very messy. Lacks structure, progression.

But that's one of the "fresher" things i've heard for the
last months.

but this is so so so good. at least just listen to Rainbow
Voodoo, Totem Crackerjack, Suns Of Temper or Absence....

i can se this making the clark haters even more distant from
his work. i thinks its right under etboy

i have nothing against the musical content of his songs, its
only the mixing i hate, but sadly it ruins it for me

i have exactly the same feelings. he simply destroyed a
wonderful album imo. on body riddle the 0db mastering seemed
perfect, fresh, innovative and gave the album really an
edge. then on turning dragon i thought that it gave the
album definitely more power but the problem was that i
wasn't simply able to listen to the whole album at once on
headphones.

right now it's just simply disgusting. just look at the bars
from the analizer in winamp - ridiculous.

worth keeping this thread alive a little longer. Just heard
the whole album. Amazing! So many great tracks -Outside
Plume, Totem Crackerjack and Sums of Temper to name a few. A
great variety of sounds and a much faster tempo for him as
of late which is very welcoming.

the whole album has a wonderful flow and cosistency to it.
its by far his most creative output since etboy. and
arguably one of the best electronic releases on warp in a
long long time.

offline Fah from Netherlands, The on 2009-06-09 11:23 [#02296023]

personally i dont think this is his strongest.. it's a bit
more of the same, like he used Growls Garden as a template
or something. There are some big highlights here and there,
but i'm less jumping about relistening the album.

after track 4 i had to stop. i'll come back to the album
later. i have a feeling it's not better than the ep or even
Turning Dragon (which i still really enjoy - oh, the evil
hyper compression, yes yes i know bla bla, fuck this).

maybe Chris would do with a longer break/longer breaks from
spitting out releases this often.

oh, and Rainbow Voodoo: it would be bearable without the
vocals really

i asked this in another thread but noone answered so ill
post it again here

why is clark signed to warp. clark shouldnt even be on the
shittiest netlabel

offline obara from Utrecht on 2009-07-14 12:15 [#02306514]

what's so special about Warp these days anyway ? is it still
so great/hip/cool to be signed by them ? i have the lame
hudson mohawke and the WarpLol20 in mind.

i can't answer the MDude question though. i like a great
many of Clark's tracks. and if i had a shitty unknown
netlabel i'd be glad to have him signed.

although i'd tell him to fucking relax and have at least 2-3
year breaks between releases. just for a bit of
self-criticism. he seems to be going for quantity not
quality - or his contract with Warp is going to be dead soon
so he's milking them hard while he can. DUNNO

Doesnt he already have hundreds of tracks ready made, and
just seeking around to find the perfect matches for a
release?
