Yes people will often list reasons (excuses) for their actions, trying to justify them morally or even just to appear cool for the reason they do something.
I also don't buy into the do as you like if you feel it's right. It's just like fatalism, something for weak people who can't accept responsibilty for their actions.

some of you just need to learn to be better shoppers. i pay usually pay $12 for a cd and rarely more than $14. i make like $90/week at a parttime job and i have money for all the cd's i really need to get (i decide this sometimes on artist reputation but othertimes through previewing online via mp3's and audio clips). if any of you want advice on how to get $12 cd's i'm going to make a section of my web site about it cos people ask me sometimes how to find cd's i play on my show or even just in my room or on my discman.

I don't mind paying for CDs if lots of labels didn't rip alot of artists off, so the artist only gets a marginal cut when its their music being sold. So downloading it is fine, as many hillbillies will always still pay for their CDs keeping everyone in business. So i'll pay for my Cds when I know the artist gets a bigger cut

getting cheap CD's in 4 easy steps:
1. a) order from bestbuy.com where cd's are very cheap and you can get free shipping on 1 item.
b) go to bn.com and perform these next 3 steps:
2. sign up for a reader's advantage club. for 12 months you get 10% discount in stores (useless since prices are jacked up in the the shop) and 5% discount online. when you order a lot like me this 5% quickly pays off the $25 it costs for a year. ALSO, you get 2 cards, so you can pick another person to get the same discount, for free.
3. check here regularly and use the discount codes.
4. with your discount information above, order any 2 items (such as 2 cd's regularly priced at $12.99) and get free shipping. after the discount your cd could be as cheap as $9.
note #1: this is provided that you have no moral objection to patronizing multi-million or billion dollar corporations in order to save a few bucks.
note #2: it's oftentimes cheaper, and, for some, more ethical and satisfying, to order direct from the label site. for hefty records albums are $10 and ep's $7, with $1.50 for shipping. www.heftyrecords.com. also, this isn't a label site, but bentcrayon.com and strangefortune.com offer very good prices for electronic music. hiphopsite.com offers good prices too but the added bonus is you can get so many freebies through ordering, including exclusives like bonus discs, t-shirts, and posters.
note #3: it's cheapest to buy cd's used, especially promos, but that doesn't support the artists because 1) promos are pressed as loss leaders, profit-cutting cd's pressed for journalists and radio stations in hopes of creating interest in the album so that people will legitimately pay for them. these cd's are technically owned by the labels anyway and lent to people as promos, which sadly get sold a lot (i've bought my share). so everytime you buy a promo, whether used or unwrapped, you're taking money away from artists who you wo

...would be paying if promos could somehow be kept under control. on the other hand, if not for the cheapness of promos, you might never take a chance and buy it at all (and thus never become a fan, someone who would later pay for a legitimate cd, attend a concert, or buy merchandise). so it's a bit of a gray issue even for me.

well, it's not total crap... but come on... we can't just do whatever we feel... we do need a universal set of rules to follow...

point being: some things don't go together... someone who is naturally inclined to a set of moral and ethical beliefs expresses it in his daily practices... those who don't make their own rules... it's the fashion of the day... all the little kids (in age AND intellect) seem to think they have it all figured out... some never grow out of it... but these things can't just sit next to one another in peace, it's unfair for one set of standards for one person, and another for another... so humans NEED a doctrine of thought that goes beyond illogical wants, and enters into sound realism...
