items like this on ebay

Two of his best ever b-sides, I don't know if the black
vinyl is better than the clear vinyl in terms of sound
quality, the same way with coloured vinyl... because I'm
just ignorant in these matters.

In my experience, clear vinyl sounds inferior to black
vinyl. This could be due to many factors though; generally
ltd. edition (fewer copies can mean the presses haven't
"warmed up"), people saving money on mastering/vinyl weight
to offset the cost of the vinyl, "collectability" means
people are more forgiving of poor sound quality, they
usually tend to be quite thin/light (presumably so they look
more transparent) and hence sound quality suffers a bit.

Odd really, as you think it would be more likely to be
virgin vinyl (although I think it's increasingly less common
to use recycled vinyl- less of it about). I don't know if
there's an actual technical reason why it can't sound as
good as black vinyl.
