Thoughts on the current middle-east situation? It looks like it's already erupted into full-scale war. All that remains to be done is for it to be formalised. It's all very scary and tragic. |

I don't know, but things are going for fuckin shit. If the countrys that are against America declare war, and they have another fucking draft I don't know what I'll do. Plus with the capabilities for nuclear missles now with Iran and N.Korea, we could be in big trouble. Our town is #2 on the list of targets for them in our country. |

The Isrealis are quite rightfully hitting back at those silly towel heads who seem to think that Isreal invaded Palestine, set up a country and treated Arab's like scum ever since. I know the arabs are engaging in terrorism and the Isrealis are protecting themselves, but they shouldn't be there in the first place. I don't care if it their holy land or not. If I start a religion, claim my holy land is somewhere and kick everyone else out am I right? People generally have little empathy with Isreal now. The only reason it exists is because the world was weary after WWII and the people had found out what a hard time the jews had had. Most people alive now have no concept of that, not properly and just see Isreal for what it is, a bully. The thing is... if someone told me to move, that I had to go somewhere because they were making their own country, I would fight them, so I don't see how I can criticise the arab countries and not be hypocritical. |

Omaha, NE. Lincoln is near, about 30-45 miles. so our member recycle would be in for radiation. It's because our city is home of the Strategic Air/Space Command. It's bout 2 miles from my house and that is a main target of any wars. DC would be first obviously. |

In Westren NE, I hear down at the "panhandle" there is one area, that does not show up as anything on an atlas or map, and a teacher told us it was where they had a few underground silos and that you could see the openings from the interstate that passes through by looking out into the fields. |

I doubt that it is going to escalate into anything full-scale. Israel is going to shoot Hezbollah up until they are all gone, and then there will be years and years of national debate about the whole thing. Just today they have destroyed their headquarters in Beirut. They have a naval blockade.... Tons of innocents are getting killed both in Lebanon and in Israel. If I'm correct, there have been more civillian deaths than militant. That just goes to show you right there that their bureaucracies are not worth shit and the people should be fighting against THEM and the united states. The lebanese people should be very angry with America. Our administration vetoed a resolution urging Israel to stop their attacks in Gaza. It sickens me and makes me ashamed to be American, it's like the coward on the playground who sees a fight and says, "No! Let them kill eachother! I want to see blood." Fuck Bush and this country. |

There's a bit of a contradiction in terms there, if you read this the right way: I doubt that it is going to escalate into anything full-scale. Israel is going to shoot Hezbollah up until they are all gone but I do understand that you probably meant a formal, country vs country vs country War when you wrote "full-scale". That near irrelevent comment aside, as a result of the Hezbollah offensive, only A mother and daughter died in an attack on the town of Meron. Two Israelis died in attacks on Thursday. That's it. 4 People. The violent and needless death of one person is tragic enough, don't get me wrong.. But it shrinks in comparison with the number of Palestinians who've been killed since that single israeli soldier was abducted, with the number of Lebanese who've been killed since that offensive began... It's even smaller, and certainly less tragic, than the killing of seven palestinian children on a beach, which one Hamas leader has cited as the origin of this recent flare of violence, as opposed to the abduction of Gilad Shalit. |

You can't see the prisoner as just a man. The Israelis see his capture as an affront to their authority. It's question of face. I wouldn't worry about a third world war around now. Why would that happen? All the big powers are calling for peace, they have nothing to gain by supporting either side. The US will make some half-hearted diplomatic attempt to get Israel to cease hostilities, of course they couldn't really care less about the Arabs. |

The Israelis are protecting their sovereign country from unprovoked terrorist attacks. They left Gaza 10 months ago and what do the Palestinians do? The use the territory not to better the lives of their people, but to import massive amounts of weapons and launch rockets into Israeli territory. Now Hezbollah, Iran/Syria's proxy army, infiltrates Israeli territory to kill and kidnap soldiers. Israel did not attack first. You do not blackmail a country into releasing all your prisoners by taking hostages and firing missiles. Israel said enough of this bullshit. Now the Palestinians (Hamas/Hezbollah/Al Qaeda/all the same shit) have fucked with the bull. And when you fuck with the bull, you get the horns. Lebanon was supposed to disarm Hezbollah. But of course they cannot since they're really controlled by Syria and they are not willing to start another civil war in their country. So as a result, the Israelis will have to deal with it for them. Take this to mind: If the Arabs layed down their weapons, there'd be no more war. If the Israelis laid down their weapons, there'd be no more Israel. Jews have EVERY right to Israel. It is their ancestral homeland and they've been living there CONTINUOUSLY for over 3,000 years. All they want to do is live in peace and left the fuck alone. It's tragic that innocents on both sides are being killed, but the Palestinians will never learn until they start to value life rather than celebrate death. You can blame their "leadership" who they freely elected for instigating this mess. Once they come to their senses (if that ever happens) and actually want peace more than they want to kill Jews, this never-ending situation will be resolved. Until that happens, Israel has every right to defend its citizens. |

I know that in protestantis it is possible to go your whole life as a pious christian and never go to church once and still be saved, but I think that's harder in the orthodox church, and I don't know what the jewish traditions say.. maybe that even varies with the type of jew you are; orthodox or not? |
