I talked to him on the ultravisitor tour, he seemed kind of
messed up about people catching up to his production style.

Personally I am making the assumption that he doesn`t want
to be involved with the cut up style right now because, no
matter how good it is, the album would just be buried under
the 500000 other "I can slice an amen" artists.

Who knows ...

I don't blame him. If I had people like VS stealing my style
and acting like they invented it, I would be choked too.

they're too different.

Yeah Tom makes way different music then Arron.

Vsnares style is very much evolved gabber, where as
Squarepusher is evolved drum and bass.

I think it's impossible to compare vsnares and squarepusher,
they both have their own sound, their own type of melodies,
drum programming tricks etc, can't compare them just becouse
they both chopped up an amen, I like to think that "drill"
is an genre and not a style like squarepushers style or
venetian snares style, wich one of the two artist one likes
more or less is up to one another, and nobody cares wich one
YOU think is "best"

I think the 'pusher's Jaco style combined with
idm/electronic is way more inventive and a huge area to be
explored and good for him for opening that door. He was an
innovator. So I say he is way better than snares.

i don't really see the point in comparing artist, who's
better or worse. arguments over opinions are as gay as
arguing over the internet.

i hope mr. pusher is alive and well. i wish he'd releas more
jazz material. ala HND. then again, i wish he'd release
anything at this point and tour!

offline oxygenfad from www.oxygenfad.com (Canada) on 2006-05-31 12:26 [#01910583]
Points: 4442 Status: Regular

The 2 are very camparable due to the nature of their
production. They both have a thing for jazz, and they both
have inovated music at some point in time.

Tom gets the props for having to do all his stuff with
shitty versions of Cubase in like 1995-96. But Tracking
isn`t that easy aswell ...

I like them both very much! But since we havn`t heard any
new pusher in a while, and Arron has so much new material
out now, it`s almost instinctive to lean towards
Squarepusher at the moment.

Hope he releases something fucking soon!!!!

I like Squarepusher, but I don't think he's that innovative.
His whole style is pretty much based on '93-'94 style jungle
(Lenny Da Ice, DJ Zinc, etc), with a few more odd sounds
and slap bass thrown in.
Venetian Snares is just some geek joke. Oh, he's really
technically gifted! His songs are COMPLICATED! Big deal,
where's the heart?

Tracking is simple. Its just as easy as entering things into
a grid if your used to it. It actually makes things easier
to create crazy variations in it than with automation
envelopes and separate grid based tracks.

i get annoyed every time i hear there is yet another vsnares

the one before it.

snares music has a lot fo heart

actually I think squarepusher is a lot colder than snares´s
music

also aaron give us lots of nice melodies, despite what
people say.

i think that not only he is good, but he is one of the best
right now

His production style? He's always going on about how he's a
"leader" and people copying him. I think a lot of
electronica and breakcore retards need to catch up on early
jungle and realise how much squarepusher has nicked from
legends like Dillinjer and Lemon D. "Do you know
Squarepusher" is probably his best tune, because it pays lip
service to things like garage and R'n'B in an interesting
way.

it's same as everything else except it has different
samples/sounds. it's like aphex would release saw1 and then
made 20 versions of it using different synth sounds. IMO.

yeah, vsnares's got heart, i don't oppose that, but it's too
much of the same for my taste and i get bored after hearing
two albums that sound exactly the same. not even necessarily
by the same artist..

swears : yeah I understand what he means, but I'd like to
know how this conversation exactly went. Like oxygenfad:
"hey man, you're my hero, I'm a musician too!" squarepusher:
"quit byting my style , you homo" etc etc

This show

All this Squarepusher talk has got me doing google searches
now, I found a review for the show I was at.
I didn`t see anyone get ruff housed though, I don`t know
what this guy is talking about... I waited with a guy and
his cute girlfriend (I think is why the only reason he came
over).

I started talking to him about gear and stuff, he was kind
of fruggle with his knowledge heh. I mentioned Vsnares , and
he gave me this weird body language... like I mentioned the
name of his Ex-Girlfriend or something ... This is entirely
just in my words, could have been nothing yeah know... maybe
he was clearing his throat or something.

That show was fucking great, was better then anything I have
seen to date (well ministry was pretty fucking crazy...).

I`m actually on the Ultra Vistor CD! I was yelling really
fucking loud at the intro of one of his songs, I bootlegged
the show so I can 100% prove it is the same recording :D

I`ll post it some day on the torrent! Sounds like shittt
though, I used one of those 20 dollar dictaphones :D

lucifer:

When I gave Tom my demo tape, he said "Yeah I`ll throw it on
the pile" hahaha. That made the 14 hour drive!

Luke Vibert put my tape in his front shirt pocket and tapped
it with his hand :D

Luke Vibert was such a cool fucking guy , very very nice!

But to answer your question, I have absolutly no evidence to
prove my judgements, I`m just basing this off of how he
reacted to things I said. I just toally remember walking
away thinking "Wow that fucking kicked ass! I wonder why he
was acting weird when I mentioned Vsnares". Thats all :D

they are quite diferent.

all the people that dislike snares say that he is always

are varied

so who is right?

proper IDM, noise stuff and breakcore respectively
