New DVD

"The DVD, featuring the 1992 "director's cut," will be
deleted after four months, and replaced by a
25th-anniversary "final cut," which Warner Home Video is
billing as Scott's "definitive new version" of the film.

(Warner Home Video is a unit of Time Warner, as is CNN.)

After a limited theatrical release, the newly
spruced-up "Runner" will be released in a multidisc
special edition DVD that also will include the original
theatrical cut, the expanded international theatrical cut
and the 1992 director's cut
."

i saw a cut once that was the version they showed test
screening audiences before the release of the theatrical
version. It had some of the narration, the unicorn scene,
an unfinished soundtrack, as well as a few other little
interesting tidbits.

apparantly, the egyptian theatre here in seattle ordered the
reel for a midnight screening, but Warner Brothers (i think
that's the studio) sent the wrong cans. So if you work at a
theatre, you might be able to order it. it's not
necessarily better, just interesting if you've already seen
the other cuts a bazillion times.

i hope the new version has a more realistic unicorn in it.
realistically boning a hot lady unicorn with like
spectacular CGI. maybe Sean Young riding around on it with
her synthetic tits hanging out. that would kick so much
ass.

I hear they're gonna recut the final cut of the director's
cut to make what is being labelled as the "definitive final
director's cut cut". I Rumour has it CGI dinosaurs will make
an appearance in this version.

offline obara from Utrecht on 2006-05-30 16:11 [#01910131]

dinosaurs would be fun....otherwise they would fuck up
what's been a good and classic and awesome film.

oh well....R. Scott is unpredictible.

Yeah. I'm just going to download this. I'm not buying a
''definitive'' version unless it, like, looks definitive.

i'd only imagine minor tweaks in the new version, it'd be
good to get a ridley, trumbell, syd mead commentary or some
decent extras. but i've seen bladerunner to utter death to
be honest.
