i'm not sure if anyone from plone died, but the guy that
supported them at warp died, and warp subsequently decided
not to release plone's second album. their second album
languishes is a closet somewhere...

"the guy that supported them" isnt someone who can be hired?

Wait, it's trapped in the closet?

Oh shit! It's an R. Kelly release!

in that case, do not open the closet door!

the guy that supported them was one of the founders of warp
records, and he died of cancer a few years ago. as i
recall, plone was subsequently dropped from warp. so i'd
say no, he's not someone that can be hired.

My buddy gave me a copy of their unreleased 2nd album on a
disc-o-mp3s. I think it is really really good. Too bad
Warp didn't put it out. As far as the whimsical, childlike,
never ending story kind of electronica this is top notch.

I wonder why they weren't allowed to shop this around to
other labels.

So, if it's never going to be officially released, you know
what to do, right?

I downloaded this on SLSK and was quite surprised. I think
it's betetr than their first album. Not so playful and more
focus on melody. It should be picked up by a label and given
a proper release!

there are some amazing tunes,
and other not very inspired ones, imo...

its strange
i had the opposite impression than you mortstox
i think their first album was just perfect,
for its melodies and sound,
and that this second one was more direct
and focused on drums...

offline mortsto-x from Trondheim/Bodø (Norway) on 2008-03-07 03:43 [#02182541]

Yeah. More melodic is not a good description. The reason why
I waited so long before I listened to it is because I never
really liked their Warp album. It's playful and melodic, but
I think it sounds like music to a childrens TV show or
somethning. In another topic, a friend of Plone said that
Warp refused to release their second album because it was
too "whimsical." I think it sounds less whimsical that the
first, and more towards "proper IDM." So I can't understand
why Warp wouldn't release it. Maybe the first one didn't
sell enough? Anyway, the reason why some other label haven't
picked this up, is maybe because so few people don't know
that it exist?

yeah, it definetly deserves to be released,
its a lot more fun and better than most of the stuff
released nowadays...
