World Trade Centre Xlt Vibes idea

i had an idea for a new xltronic vibes, a nostalgic mix of
songs dedicated to the memory of the world trade centre in
new york.

the tracks must be inspired by the tragedy of the terrorist
attacks, must be in 9/11 or 11/9 timing, atleast one
squarewave oscilator (because they kind of look like
buildings) is to be used and optional explosion/screaming
and other traumer related sounds.

Wow, what a magnificent idea for an xlt vibe. Bold and
daring with a sense of humour, though a mix could sound
rather tragic and moving.
9 over 11 timing would be interesting (hilarious?) timing,
definetely out of most peoples comfort zone. I'm in!

an xlt vibe with a certain topic to be influenced by (world
trade centre disaster) and a certain timing could be more
interesting and challenging than something like, i dunno,
rebirth only vibes or something. not that im saying rebirth
only is a bad idea, but i think this is a good idea.

Expect a deluge of venetian snaresesque purile
"shock-a-thon" of samples of newsfootage of the crash and
people screaming/crying, over poorly produced hackneyed
breakbeats.

Good idea though.

i could actually get venetian snares to do an entry himself
but it's too early...time to sleep in BraziL! :)

'Expect a deluge of venetian snaresesque purile

people screaming/crying, over poorly produced hackneyed

thats one way to look at it, and that alone would make a
brilliant vibes. so is this official yet?

when man was confronted of the idea of going to moon, did he
say it was the worst idea ever? did he say, no offence but
this is at least in the top 10 worst ideas ever? did he say
this idea sucks and give up!!! huh?
an xlt vibes with either 9/11 timing (or 11/9 if thats what
part of the world you're at..) will be remembered in xlt
history.
some people hated the idea, the other half thought it didnt
suck.
isnt it ideas like this that should be encouraged! ideas
like this that make xlt a better place for us all.

Where the 9/11 time signature scheme falls down is that
Fruityloops doesn't support 9/11 time signature. :)

not my department.

.wav/.mp3 files of the sounds of news footage of the
crashes, screaming, jets flying, etc. would all be good.

the plan fails as you realise you don't actually get 11th
notes or 9th notes. Therefore no 9/11 11/9 time signature.
haha

9/11 / 11/9 is completely doable.

and I don't think this is a good idea.

offline Torture Garden from Feelin' 2Pacish on 2006-05-16 08:00 [#01899672]

ok. since they're no 9th or 11th notes. what are you saying
is equal to a 9th note? Dotted 8th?

It's doable but not in a true music sense. You'd have the
bend the rules of music to create that signature. This is
why fruity loops wouldn't allow it.

no, a 9th is a 9th, not a dotted 8th. I wish I could give
you examples, but I wouldn't know how. I do, however, know
that music can be i any timesig you want it to be,
you just have to figure out how to do it and I don't have
the skill unfortunately.

It's hardle a noble gesture likely to make a difference to
anyone or anything, except some weak self-gratification to
those who do little for anyone but themselves and thus
translate playing a song in a wierd time sig to equal heart
felt compassion and sensitivity. It's like people who put
10p in an oxfam collection and feel they made a difference.

That along side the fact that although 9/11 was a tragedy,
it is by no means something thatd eserves the attention it
gets. In the grand scheme of attrocities it would rate very
low in terms of innocent people who got killed, but the fact
it was america and it wa son TELLY means everyone cares.

Sorry, it gets me angry. No offence to anyone.

Yes, it's doable. But you have to understand that there is
no 9th note and there is no 11th note. You must find what a
9th note is equal to by using what exists.

"It's hardle a noble gesture likely to make a difference to

what he said. plus that and 90% of it will be the usual
drivel of nondescript crappy idm

and i agree with that. Americans crap their pants every
september over the same 3,000 people. Was it a bummer? sure.
But get the heck over it america. Thousands of people die
daily in other countries but we are so stuck up and paumpus
that we will never realize it.

It aggravates me too

hello world

well i like square waves.

as for the timing question - everything is possible but
there just no eleventh notes yet as far as i know. the whole
length must be divided by 11, this will be one eleventh
note.. then what? divide it further by two maybe.
this shit can be done in wave editor without timeline
fucking snapping, let's say cool edit or as it is called
nowadays adobe audition or you know better than me.
why the fuck did i write this - it is clear for everybody.

anyway i won't participate in [such] vibes

so the solution is to commemerate the event with awkward
tracks in an odd time signature with samples of people
screaming and dying?

again, this is probably the worst idea for a vibes yet, imo.

I bet we'd make the national news, imagine the headlines:

INTERNET NERDS MAKE SICK 9/11 TRIBUTE

DO THESE "MUSICIANS" HAVE NO MORAL DECENCY?

DEPORT THEM ALL TO CAMP X-RAY, SAYS BLAIR

SHOCKINGLY INSENSITIVE

its a fucking disgrace.

to top it off why don't you make some videos of people

I just think its tacky to the point of ridiculousness. It
sounds like something from Brass Eye or Nathan Barley...

Next vibes, we can have Holocaust Vibes - using melodies
from traditional Jewish hymns combined with samples from
concentration camp footage. And it should be written in
goose-step-time.
