google's not come up with anything halfway decent the last
few times i've tried this, so i'm asking here -

anyone have any to reccomend?

they need to support HTTPS, and be able to resume downloads,
and be FREE.

thanks.. yea that looked familiar.. now i realise why i'd
uninstalled it..

doesn't seem to work with my proxy - and the logs aren't
very revealing. i'll keep fiddling with it though..

Gotta agree with pomme, Free Download Manager is the best
I've tried by a long shot.
It downloads things much much faster than standard firefox
download, has full support for resuming, etc and when you
copy a link it automatically has it ready to go when you
goto the new download window. It's pretty much a joy to
use.

And it's free :)

sharing/file hosting sites (yousendit, rapidshare,
megaupload, etc, etc.)

DAP is pretty good but sometimes it annoyingly pokes his
head around the corner RIGHT when you don't want it to
