I've had my Creative Zen Sleek since last Christmas so it should be working fine, and has been doing so up until last night. I pressed the on/off button and as usual it said 'Shutting Down' on the screen, however 20 minutes later I realised it was still 'Shutting Down' and was seriously overheating. I reset it, and it came up with the rebooted screen, asking me if I want to re-format my Zen, losing all my data. Yes/No
Which ever one I select I get a funny picture of a screwdriver and some object that resembles an iPod wheel coming up with the words "harddisk probem" flashing for a few moments before the screen returns to the re-formatting option.
It's under warranty from Amazon still but I really don't want to go through all the hassle of sending it to them and waiting months and all that. God damnit I'm so fucking pissed off. Nothing I've tried works.
Can anyone help? please..

You might have disconnected it from the computer incorrectly at some point.
I did that with my iPod and had the same issue. I had to format it completely and redo the firmware and all was fine.
If that's not it then your hard drive is fucked.

im working for the "after sales service" for a company that sells this stuff. Creative is a good brand, but it can happens, just be sure your eyes can cry and buy a new one, or stop buying new electronic stuff, it'll get you mad like my fellow costumers here !

thanks, I'll try to connect it up and see if that makes anything work.. it just looks seriously fucked right now though, what could possibly have gone wrong with the hard-drive? I care for it as if it were my child!
:(
I'm depressed for it's passing and livid at Creative for having the shittest technical support and after sales service (no offence glasseater)

Refund is where you recieve the money back. Whats the term for when you want to just replace an faulty item with a new one?

my ipod broke, hard disk issues, piece of shit. since then i've dug out my old tape walkman, and its fantastic. i've been using for 3 weeks and its just so much better for me really. i'm not bothered if it gets scratched or knicked. the battery lasts forever, i tend to appricate music a lot more, rather than skipping through the same old tracks. i've probably lost about 4 tapes in my life through being mangled by tape decks. my ipod lost 3000 tracks in one fucking go.

I've got 2. Tapes are the best format ever, its just you always end up listening to the same ones over and over.

Thanks Andrew, that made me feel so much better. My Zen was pronounced "dead" by me at approx. 8pm this evening. Shipping it off to amazon tomorrow.
2,700 songs just wiped in the blink of an eye. Now that's technology for you!

Aww. I will lament your zen for you Lament I say! My ipod randomly switches off sometimes, claiming the battery is dead, when in fact it is not.
Piece of shit.

perhaps bescause technology is advancing so quickly these days, and becoming obsolete within years, months even, that it is in the manufacturers interest to build it cheaply and not to last. we are getting dicked over by technology.

yeah, you're probably right. From the moment I got my Zen out of its box I was disappointed because it just wasn't as well welded and polished off as it should have been. Dust got under the screen immediately and the headphone jack is at a slight angle too. Nothing serious but just generally presenting an image of cheapness :(
