All pages should be loaded much quicker now... around 2-4
times faster...

Noticable? Perhaps giginger and tridenti could try and clock
the same pages today....

0:00 on the index which is 2 seconds faster to my memory.

Still getting 2 seconds on the database performance thread
though. Won't complain though.

I've noticed that clicking to see the post that someone
followed up is a lot quicker. It used to reload the entire
page before. Now it just drops down to their post. I don't
know if that's a change you've made or something that
changed in my browser. Either way. Nicer.

Official radio thread loaded in 2 seconds. (Still 250 posts
per page). Impressive.

it seems kind of random here.. sometimes it's faster, other
times it's just as slow as it used to be... nothing else
hogging the line, and no particularly heavy programs running
either...

everything else seems to be loading instantly, so I don't
know... it's loading relatively quick, but there's not much
difference from before as far as I can tell...

drunken mustah:

- check the large radio-thread using OLD, slower method

- check the large radio-thread using NEW, faster method

if you wanna view the "exact" benchmark loading time. "View
source" and scroll down to the bottom - look for the line
which says something like "" - which is the processed time
for the page. compare the new and old method. try to set 250
msgs/topic to see a larger difference.

back on the browser from within a topic.

I take the occasion to say I love this kind of followup
feature. This messageboard is special, when I browse other
forums, I hate the posts with inside others posts, which
make them a lot bigger, they ruin the layout in my opinion.
Here everything is so ordered and well-put.

I miss the drop-down menu, although if getting rid of it
speeds up the main page's loading, it's all good. Way
precise.

It also doesn't cause the page to reload every time I try to
use the wheel of my mouse whenever I just select a page and
forget that my mouse wheel will refresh the page instead of
scrolling down.

I don't like the arrows for the navigation of old pages, I
liked the drop down menu. That meant I could click on a
random bunch of threads from years ago and read the funnies.
GONE!

And I dunno if it's my cookies but the refresh rate is crap,
I have to log in to almost every thread to post and the
posts don't show for like five minutes. It's probably my
cookies. Blame the cookies.

damn you

in general: i wouldn't worry too much of missing/annoying
stuff on the current site, as a lot of changes/improvements
are made in v2.

as soons as the new site is here, i'd love to hear your
whining! really!

we have performed some further optimizations now. the
messageboard should behave a bit faster.... but maybe it
won't show until there's more traffic tho.

well, let us know if things are weird etc... or even if you
find the mb faster! that's always nice to hear. :)

offline marlowe from Antarctica on 2007-01-09 16:16 [#02029178]

I have one minor complaint. If I look at someone's profile,
and then, say, at their last 5 posts, I can't naturally get
back to the messageboard! I have to manually type it in
again.

what I mean is: the mb should be pretty fast regardless the
number of concurrent users

up until today i had some troubles opening the forum,
showing a scrollbar at the bottom of my browser (safari on a

moving up, when i scrolled down....only in the forum window,
not in the threads btw)
