ok, I tried warm milk, hot bath, camomille tea, working
out, whatever, but in the last four days, I've slept no more
than three hours... if I go to bed, I just lie there with my
eyes closed and no sleeping going on. I'm not sleepy at all,
and I need to get my days back to normal before uni kicks
off again... any motherfucking tips?

I'm going to take a half an hour walk in the rain with a
camera. if I'm not back by 03:15, call your uncle.

also, some tips by then would be nice.

i suffer from the same thing as you most nights, keep
tossing and turning and my mind wont stop thinking

most of these don't really work for me but they might for
you:
- reading until you fall asleep
- keeping some music going while you sleep, but something
ambient or downbeat
- marijuana
- try to make your mind focus on one particular sound on
your room or whatever and try to block out anything else

What I do in extreme situations is I drink one beer as
quickly as possible and lay down 5 minutes later. It's risky
because if you wait too long with the laying down part,
you'll get excited rather than sedated.

but right now, after the walk, I have a headache

hopefully, the headache pills will have a sleep-inducing
effect.

set your alarm clock around 9am and get up when it goes off.
don't nap during the day. after a few days it'll be fine.

failing that, i used to just not let myself go to bed one
night, and fight the tiredness the next day, and then go to
sleep at a reasonable time. feel great the next morning.
very unhealthy though..

That's what I'm actually doing at the moment. I'm fed up
with getting up at 2pm and having only 2 hours of sunlight a
day.

well, if the alarm clock rang at 9 it wouldn't wake me up,
as I'd still be awake.. it'd just remind me that it was 9 o'
clock...

- reading until you fall asleep
tried it, but it only got me more awake, as I was interested
in what I was reading

- keeping some music going while you sleep, but something
ambient or downbeat
keeps me awake

- marijuana
no.

- try to make your mind focus on one particular sound on
your room or whatever and try to block out anything else
I've got tinnitus, and it keeps me awake.

I will now lay in bed with eyes closed.

if nothing else, it'll help the headache.

I get kept up by distractions such as Battlefield, which I
have just dragged myself off at around 4am :(, DVD's and
magazines. I can only sleep when I'm bored and very tired.

its odd, but i cant ever fall asleep anymore without
throwing a movie or the tv on, i need something that drowns
out all the ambient sounds in my house that freak me out.

being a semi-chronic pseudo-insomniac, when i go through
no-sleeping phases, its normally because im stressed out or
something, and once thats done with (normally takes me a
couple weeks) i sleep like a baby

Strange but true. At least about RD in my case. I used
Cautella for falling asleep a couple of times. Maybe because
his albums are quite boring when you get past the third
track.

I have a pile of empty ones in my bedroom!
Sex also works...

OK so I tried this Redrum. I did have two hours sleep but
I'm absolutely shattered. Hopefully I'll pass out around
11.

Tip: Don't drink caffeine

i also couldn't fall asleep last night, tho it's not as
serious as you say. perhaps it's something psychosomatic
that disturbed your sleeping cycle, perhaps it's the exams
or stuff.

good luck tonight

just either irritating or interesting...
