how much interest would you have in hearing old & remixed or brand new autechre songs in 5.1 surround sound? like, even if they just remixed ONE song in 5.1.... it could be fucking devastating im just kinda throwing this out here. dont think of it as official at all (one of those ideas that just came to me as i was reading) i personally think it has great potential.. and i'd definitely pay as much as $40US for a DVD or hidef CD. so, list older songs that you'd like to hear mixed 5.1, and express your interest for such a release. for me: dial sublimit reniform puls parhelic triangle (HOLY SHIT!!) netlon sentinel acroyear II (THIS WOULD BE HOLY SHIT #2) rsdio overand |

have you read their interview in sound on sound mag recently - they say that they are doing/looking to do that with the 5:1 they may have even mentioned 7:1! i wouldnt be suprised if this sort of thing was a feature of their next ep.. |

...I have absolutely no interest in a 5.1 release at all. I don´t live in my sofa, hearing ae in stereo, especially on the move suits me perfect. ae is about something else than warming up old stuff and I hope they don't begin making "homecinema products for couchpotatoes" either... |

what creates the prerequisite that you must be a sofa turd in order to enjoy 5.1. the idea of awesome music in 5.1 sort of just sprung to me today while reading a book in a room with 5.1 surround, and the tv was on. i wasn't looking at the television but part of the show was that two people were having a conversation and i was hearing one person say something in one corner of the room, and the other answer in the other corner of the room and i was really impressed. it was awesome. i most nearly shit in my pants and was completely devastated |

autechre is something i find far more enjoyable on headphones. are there any decent 5.1 headphones around, though? the ones i've seen are dodgy as hell. great idea, but i'm not quite sure it could be enjoyed fully, yet. |

oh, it´s just me ranting about from the experiences I've had from people I've seen who's into 5.1 and massive speaker systems... I would like an autechre recording done in....hm, I don't know what's it called in english, but you use a artifical head with in-built mics in the head's ears and the recordings are extremely "real" sounding. Real surround sound with just headphones! (a field recording done this way sounds like it would do listening to the real thing) |

well, yeah, i realise you can't have "true" 5.1 headphones, but you can certainly get headphones that have several speakers in the ear; giving the intended effect that the 5.1 recordings give. i've used a few, but it appears those available currently are more lower consumer grade (which sound terrible if you're used to better gear). |

I'd prefer all the old ones in 5.1 instead, but you know what would be REALLY GREAT? Is both 5.1 Dolby, and 5.1 DTS... 8.1 seems a bit much, I've heard of like 11.2 somewhere, so I dunno about that shit... |
