unless something really fucks up within the next few
days... we're moving to a newer, faster and more sexier
dedicated server.

Processor 2x3.0Ghz XEON
RAM 1GB ECC
Hard Drive 80GB SATA
Redundant GigE NICs Dual 10/100/1000Mbps NICs

we're also swithing to the more faster and more flexible
fedora 4 linux distrib, instead of the out-dated and
un-supporter red hat distrib.... so both software and
hardware will get quite a boost...

this actually means another $70 charge of fee per month. but
thanks to premium members and google ads, we're able to do
this.

all this combined with the new optimized techniques and
features in xltronic v2 (we're recoding the whole
engine/site), will perhaps feature quite a pleasant trip.
the premium accounts will be rewarded even more.... more
exclusive features.

xltronic is tha blast!

yay! i'll increase my donating as soon as i fix my current
(broke as a mouse) situation!

does this mean there will be more slots for radio stream
available? surely there's going to be +50 listeners when
aphex plays..

yes, more radio slots.... more of everything.

we just want to make sure everything runs as smooth as
possible. we're currently optimizing the code and that alone
will speed up areas such as the messageboard.... but xlt v2
= more features + more content, which in fact might be
cumbersome for the server to handle (if there are many
similiar requests) so that combined with the fact that we
got a nice offer from our webhosting company generated this
step.

the migration will be performed in the background and is an
ongoing transparent process during the next two weeks. but
there will prolly be a small gap when we actually goes live
with the new server, perhaps for a day.

More radio slots... does that mean channels? Would you be
able to run a regular dj, while giving people the option to
listen to a rerun of some of the better radio spots instead?

no, slots are = number of concurrent listeners.

as for "channels".... i've already setup the radio to run on
different ports which means we can broadcast live sessions
on ONE channel and run 24/7 radio on ANOTHER channel - at
the same time.

if i have time i'll activate it tonight.

Great!

A new server is really what we need...!

Stupid question: should we register ourselves again on xlt
v2? Or the new site will be just a BIG "upgrade" of the
current xlt?

I'm not a web designer or something like that but I suppose,
with a new server we would have our MB more fast, because
sometimes when I'm browsing xlt, it used to crash for about
10 minutes and more. Another thing: the new search engine
will work fine with a new and powerful server which means
the mb won't go down for that reason anymore.

Of course correct me if I'm wrong...

I think you should ban wma files :D

50meg is a damn nice figure. Should allow quite a few
tracks.

Are we able to hotlink to files on our own server in this
page as well?
