Apparently, the user license on the microsoft word that came with this hp pavilion pc package of mine i received way back in 2000 has expired. so i need a new program, because i'm not writing my essays in wordpad.
i need it soon... i have an essay to write right now...

get open office. its open source (hence the name), completely free, and has essentially everything ms office has minus an expensive license and bloated code.

You have to put them together yourself I am feeling too lazy.
Wierd it should expire now, Microsoft don't do long term time restricted licenses.

get abiword now to start writing now
its 5 megs, openoffice is all java . i find it too heavy. its a good complete replacement for ms office. but for your essay, abiword is the better choice.

No. Jokes are forbidden during Ramadan.
Actually, I heard that homosexuals are considering a festival with the same name.

hmmm... i've installed openoffice, but it's very slow, and it seems a bit cumbersome. plus i received a LOT of errors during installation, so i'm not too sure....
guess i'll try that abiword too.

it's probably not liking open office because:
a) i'm on WinME b) my computer dislikes Java... a lot. i seriously can't even install updates anymore.

Abiword is very cool. I recommend that - you can save them as .DOC files so they can be reopened and edited on MSWord.

I do like Abiword. OpenOffice is an amazing peice of open source software. But, it is HUGE and can be cumbersome at times depending on what you're trying to use it for.

yes, i clicked that option while i was installing it! i like it a lot so far.
epohs - yes, it did notice it acted "bulky" when i used it. for someone who's not a serious presentation maker, i just need a versatile typing tool, so abiword suits me quite well.
