let's not bicker about that...

anyway, the track tribute is a great idea, but I also see
the point about not flooding the thread with tracks (thought
I doubt people would use this thread just to spam their
tracks).

however, I just had a thought... if everyone could record
themselves humming some note, and that could be turned into
a melody/song... well.. I may be just ranting, but for some
reason it seems very symbolic to me right now...

i think that it would be fantastic if the artists here who
feel strongly take the time to make art dedicated to him in
private. and i would really hope that no one would be so
exploitative that they would do what mimi suggested...

i just feel that there's something kind of wrong with taking
the focus of this thread onto your own projects, as good as
your intentions may be... let's just have this thread about
the memory of kevin. i'm sorry if i offended you, kado, i'm
sure you meant no harm.

that's just my point of view, maybe i'm wrong.

We shouldnt post works right away if any are made. There
should be a window of time for mourning or something. Kind
of like a moment of silence.

We dont want this thread to be full of spam. That would be
horrible.

Maybe a seperate thread "tribute to Kevin maty" or
something? That way people can do as they see fit and it
doesnt interfere with this thread?

go out to everybody who did and is mourning for their loss.
Reading this thread has been extremely moving.

I completely understand where you are coming from, looking
back it was a mistake for me to post it in here, please
believe that my intention was definately not for any
personal gain.

There have been some good ideas mentioned for tributes and I
should have waited until a more appropriate time.

not arguing with anyone, only saying that i'm confident that
if member offered tributes they would probably be genuine

yeah, I think some sort of "project" could be started...

I may only be projecting, but I know I would feel
good if I knew I inspired music... I don't know how Kevin
would feel about it, but... I'm going to say something
stupid, so I'm stopping here.

This is a body-blow. At least there are no tasteless
Google-sponsored Ads to sully his memory. I spent time
talking to him on SLSK and he was a great guy. I
really wanted the RIP in the thread-title to be a
metaphor for him leaving the Messageboard.

What is it like to go to sleep and never wake up? What is it
like to wake up after having never been asleep?

I am confused by the whole thing. Is it that much more
intense to keep it to yourself? possibly embarassment or
shame for having an illness? I poured myself out to my old
psychologist, and I even made some old self-pity rants here,
and I'm great now.

thankyou for bringing up the so called stigma of what i feel
is a society defined illness. i must stress within my own
limits that anyone who even feels or is questioning their
own mortality or borderline mental illness to contact me
personally or at least speak out within the realms of the
messageboard. please please. i feel really guilty over this
episode, i knew him aswell as anyone i talked to kevin a lot
1 to 1 and i never knew or suspected any problems.

i really shouldve known. i really should. i feel shit.

but digresing, as i said if anyone here feels the same or
thinks they may need other help, please contact me (i have
trained experience) or at least speak out. it is really
important that you feel as though you are not alone.

he only mentioned something about his mental state to me
once, about 4 months ago - I was saying how I have the
tendency to freak out now and then and he said he had been
diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder for the second time
and he hadn't told this doctor about his previous diagnosis,
so he believed it to be correct.

I asked him to elaborate, but he kind of ignored my
question.

there is a stigma that goes along with mental illness.
People treat you differently. You are percieved as weak or
untrustworthy. It's not cool.

I just played the first movement of Beethoven's Moonlight
Sonata on my piano, for k_maty only, and a thought occurred
to me near the end - that he is already reborn and has
started a new journey of life that I hope will be fulfilling
for him.

I'm still in shock over this, I really am. It's very
distressing :*(

It's good to have those skills, I sort of assimilated them
from a standpoint when I was recieving help in groups and
with doctors. When my friend got his streak of depression I
told him all the things I knew and it grounded him.
Ofcourse, I'm not qualified, but the eros is just as
powerful as the thanatos and we need to know that on a daily
basis regardless of our mood swings.

If he truely was schizo-effective, I know the feeling. We
just acted on it's symptoms differently. I wish he told us
this, I would have talked to him about it. :(

When something psychotic happens, like a distorted visual
reality or voices and even pain that isn't truely there,
some people could become overwhelmed. It's like a loss of
control and a loss of self, and you're straight in the
center of it.

I wonder if he was medicated.. I helped me to an extent but
I went off the meds when i realized that I could beat this
with a happier train of thought patterns.

it's not something you like to tell people, because, let's
face it - most people don't like to hear about it ("..oh..

it's sad that it's like that, but it is.

Yes, positive thought is what can save you. What turns you
on? Follow that. It sounds like K_Matey might have suffered
from acute paranoia or voices in his head, etc... The psych
docs are complete shit. They read into everything too much.
There are usually idiots. The drugs are doled out way too
much. Find in yourself what can keep you going and your
brain might fix itself. Has for me. Drugs can be good for
getting out of a hole, but not a lifestyle. Not for me. No
thanks. Fuck the pushers. I hate them

i have schizotypal/schizoaffective personality disorder.

before medication i was usually at the mercy of the faulty
wiring in my brain. no amount of wishful thinking can change
that.
the brain is a chemical radio, so to say. the chemicals
determine what station your brain is receiving. the proper
doctor-prescribed medication changed my whole outlook.

I love that special ops guy Crocomire. I agree with you that
drugs can really help people with serious problems, but
psych doctors tend to go over board when diagnosing and they
love to get you on a drug. If you are suffering from
something and usually are pretty ok I say try getting on
without drugs and get through it with your rationale.
